So, if VW acquires the rest of Navistar, how does that affect the plans for the Chevy 4500 and 5500 trucks?
There are contracts in place for these kinds of things… so even if it does happen – GM and Navistar have a contractual agreement for the program of the Medium Duty Silverado (4500, 5500 and 6500). Not sure how long their contract is for, but vehicle development projects typically have a minimum of 10 years… though it can vary.
By the way, it’s not looking like VW will actually acquire Navistar… they’ve cooled expectations.
