MemberI am among the many who tried and tried to get the Connections tracking to work. GM should remove the site as it frustrates all users. I found that the GMC chat has a heading for tracking, I was able to get the helpful operators to carry me through the build date of my Canyon SLT, the VIN, waiting for shipment and today it finally is bound for Washington State on a train. I believe this is where the chat will leave me as they do not track the trains. This has been exciting to me as probably the culmation of a long life of pursuing the American automobile and I am sure I shall enjoy this truck to it’s fullest (after I learn how to operate all the hi tech accessories). My new Canyon can share a stall in the garage next to my 1955 Chev Cameo pick up (which is anything but hi tech).

ParticipantThe connection site has nothing to do with GM. Its been dead for a long time because GM stopped them from accessing GM proprietary information. A couple a computer savvy GM dealer employee’s were trying to use GM information and GM put a stop to it.

MemberZ15, thanks for the explaination, makes sense , however GM should pck up on the need and provide tracking service for it ‘s customers. They have the information readily available as was provided through the chat program however we, the consumers, need a pain free method of gaining that info. Unfortunately I am now waiting out the Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad and their efforts to transport my Canyon to Washington State (but not very patiently).

MemberHere I am again! Has anything changed as far as tracking a vehicle? I now have a 17 Canyon Denali on order as of Tuesday (2-14-17) and would like to follow the build process and the anticipated excitement upon delivery. Any help would be appreciated.

MemberDown load the Camarillo 6 forum and find the tracking heading, Becky of Davis Chev will do the work for you. Good luck, I just found out my desler made a bo-bo in the order and had to resubmit so three weeks in the toilet for me as we start over looking for GM acceptance of the order.

MemberOne more update on the tracking mess, I used GM chat the other day and the contact gave me current status ( to be assembled week of 27th) and further indicated he would send me an email with updates each Tuesday until shipped. He was the first chat person to offer this service so I guess one would need to ask for it. Hopefully I will have a vehicle built in the next few days then the shipping wait for a train to NE Washington State.

MemberOk here is the latest from a very disgruntled customer, yesterday a check on the order number through GM chat indicated the truck had been shipped. I contacted my dealer and they knew nothing and did not have an invoice, later in the afternoon I received an email from GM chat saying “Congratulations your vehicle has been built. Sadly it has not been shipped”. No reason given, end of message.
Dealer says he will call me as soon as he locates invoice….no calls. Today GM chat again indicates vehicle built ” awaiting shipment”, again no idea of an ETA here or even when it will leave the plant.
I have an important trip coming up on the 20th that requires the vehicle, with friends flying in to travel with me. Sure would be nice to know I will have something to transport them in.
End of rant ( for today). -

ParticipantDepending on where you are it may have to travel by rail from Wentzville, MO to a RR distribution center servicing you area. Typically its 2-3 weeks from build to dealer. Although possible I highly doubt it will be there by the 20th of April. They have 1000’s of vehicles at the plant to plan logistics for and that take time with truck and rail schedules.

MemberZ15, I finally received a ETA from the dealer of 4-25 or twenty five days from completion of build. I live where there are no direct routes to anywhere….Spokane & Coeur d Alene are 200+ miles from any other city of any size although a great deal of our supplies do come by rail. My 2015 Canyon took only six weeks order to delivery, this one looks like a minimum of ten weeks.

KeymasterFolks — due to your individual experiences in tracking vehicles, we have started to help customers track their GM vehicle orders, as per this article.

Cheers!

MemberAlex, Looks like you are getting the vehicle tracking off the table and out where the consumer can benefit from your findings. I hope this becomes a long lasting project and brings many more folks to the forums, not just with complaints or tracking requests but all sorts of info good or bad ( hopefully not much of the latter) and add to GM Authority’s shine.
I am loving the new Denali although I have yet to make a trip over thirty or forty mile, the difference in performance is very noticeable but gas mileage has not approached the 2015 quite yet maybe when she has a couple of thousand miles on her it will improve.
As far as the cylinders being shut down when not needed, I cannot tell if this is happening or not the engine runs so smooth.
Just thought I would leave an update from one who had such difficulty finding a source for tracking a build.
