The lifter failures reported with the 5.3 with DFM seem to have been fairly widespread and documented, My understanding is that GM has been replacing the failed lifters with an updated lifter.
Seems to me, at some point the updated lifters should have been incorporated in the manufacturing / assembly process. If this true does anyone have an idea when the new lifters started being used in the 5.3?

Parts Man1 – Thanks for the response. Would that include the 2022 RST build date 5/26/22 which I have been waiting on for the past 10 months?

This is not true unfortunately. The lifters are the exact same. There has been no change in either the lifter design for OEM builds or OE GM replacement parts. We have a service department full of 2021-2023 vehicles getting lifter jobs and cam jobs and engine replacements, lifters are the exact same. The problem has has never been the lifter, it is the restriction of oil going to them with AFM/DFM and the valve lifter oil manifold. No new lifters.

You information is a little off. GM changed I’m going to say probably 2 years ago and I cant speak for your dealership but there is a huge improvement and sales have dropped because of this..
