I bought my first brand new GMC Sierra in april of 2010. I cannot belive how cheap the paint on it is. The wax coating on the frame did not hold up as well. I tried to get it taken care of by GM as it was gone in 1 year, but I got a silly answer that GM does not cover environmental issues. So my question here is why do I have a 3/36 bumper to bumper(which should be everything) that I cannot use? I wash and wax my truck many times a season to keep it pristine and because of the poor quality paint job, it starts to look bad in a week or 2. I also had to just about beg to get the bottom of the doors painted because of rusting/chipping issues. I have owned 5 Dodge Rams/Dakotas and have never seen them deteriorate so quickly.

Interesting. Can you post some photos of the rust? I’m sure the GM folk will want to see it.

“No repair or consideration should be given for this concern. Surface corrosion on unprotected components will vary with age and exposure. Corrosion on these components has no detrimental impacts, either in short or long term durability.”

@snerdy Have you had any luck in solving this or getting an answer about it? Would be great to know.

If you haven’t, feel free to contact me directly and I could provide GM customer service contact info.

      – Alex
