Hi, new to this site! Put in an order for a 2015 Denali HD order # RRWMWF is there a way to track it?
Or do I have to call my sales person for up dates.

go to the chevy web page, find the link that says Track your order and enter your order number and the state that the dealer is in and you can track the vehicle. Just don’t get mad if it isn’t updated for awhile, mine hasn’t been updated for at least a month!

Thanks you all. Update: Five days back I got An e-mail from the GM support team stating that they would Like to have my phone number so they could talk to me about my order, replied to the e-mail but no call yet! But I was able to get in touch with a customer relationship specialist at 1-800-462-8782. I was told that my truck had been built but had no more info.
Come on GM let Us track our orders, it is an Awesome 40 to 60 days of tracking and looking up all the different codes to see our build go through all the stages of production.

This is my sixth automobile I have ordered and the first I have not been able to TRACK my self.

Last year ordered a 10th Anniversary Jeep Wrangler and was able to track my order from day one.
It wasn’t the best tracking system but it gave us the info we needed.
Come on “GM” let us have a working tracking system so we can enjoy this experience!

@vettenutguy0 Congrats on your order. To my knowledge, GM doesn’t offer a way to track the vehicle at this time, as has been discussed above. Your dealer can help in a limited fashion, though. Have you tried asking them?

My order (Order # RXBTD9) for a 2015 Corvette Stingray placed 07/19/14 with a cash deposit now has a status of 4300 followed by an update of 4B00.

My dealer continues to give me delivery dates that are never met so is there any way I can tell when I will receive the car??

Very unhappy right now. I ordered a 2015 Chevy Silverado LTZ custom. I get an Order Number and the VIN and can not track my vehicle? I pay over $60,000 for a vehicle and can not track it??? I go to the website for tracking and it kicks back invalid. Can someone please help me track my vehicle?????? This is very frustrating!!!!!

    • #74566
      stevehoward1
      Participant

I have called customer service and all the information they will give me is that my truck has shipped to the Distribution Center. Why is it that you pay so much money for a vehicle and can not get anything told to you about your vehicle or track it? All everyone keeps telling me is to contact my dealership. If I have an order number and VIN then I should be able to track my vehicle myself. I also got told that I can arrange for pickup at the Distribution Center instead of the dealership. Great….can I get the number to arrange that. Sorry, can’t give out that number. REALLY????

    • #74568

@stevehoward1 yup, that’s GM’s ordering/delivery process. Can’t do much but to keep calling and asking for the status, which is sometimes useful… sometimes not. Does take the excitement out of ordering a new vehicle, doesn’t it?

“I also got told that I can arrange for pickup at the Distribution Center instead of the dealership.”

      You may have misunderstood that.

The distribution center is controlled by the railroad/trucking industry and they are not going to let you come in and take a vehicle. You are not even going to get on the property. Heck when a trucking company went on strike a few years ago, GM could not even get their vehicles and had to go to court.

GM has contracted with them to deliver it to the dealer and that’s what will happen. No more than you could go the docks in San Diego and get a shipment off the boat bypassing the longshoreman.

I ordered my 2015 in August 2014 . It was built 10-17-14 and ready for shipping on 10-20-14. It also shows a status of 4B00 I understand it is now in the hands of the GM shipper Allied. Allied as far as I can tell has no way to track your vehicle My dealer has told me it can take 6 weeks Hard to believe in this country it takes 6 weeks to get a vehicle from Kentucky to Pennsylvania! Good luck with your new vehicle hope I get mine before the snow flies

    • #74818
      Z15

Allied is the trucking company so its off the train and in the possession of the trucking company and in the final stage of delivery. All it takes is for them to build a load and get a driver to the take the truck and deliver the vehicles.

Fyi the office manager at the dealer should be able to call the GM Business Center and get the exact date and time it arrived at the distribution and when it departs the distribution center. You or I cannot get the info but GM has a direct line to the transportation company systems and they can find it at any given time. Getting someone at the dealership to do that is the major hurdle. Often times there is on one person in the dealership who can access the Dealer Business Center and its often not anyone in the sales staff.

    • #74820

Why GM doesn’t fix the “Tracking” web page is a mystery……what I’ve been doing to track my truck is while at the tracking page drop down to the “contact” links and click on “CHAT”….live….they will get you the tracking updates you are looking for. Hey GM…..change the “Tracking” page to a “Tracking CHAT” page…works better anyways plus we get a chance to ask questions concerning our new vehicle order. Hope everyone is enjoying, or will be enjoying, their new GM vehicle. Mine arrives tomorrow!! 🙂 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD LTZ, Z71, 4×4….6.6 Duramax/Allison power train.

@waynelandy Congratulations! That’s one awesome car!

Hello! Just found this thread. Nice to know others are having the same issues as myself.

We ordered a 2015i Tahoe LTZ on October 21st. Two+ weeks later the tracking page still says:

“Sorry, the order information you entered did not match any results in our system. Please try again or contact your dealer to verify your information.”

I did the chat, and the rep said she would email me weekly updates. Currently it has a status code of 1100 – Order accepted. At least I know the dealer actually ordered it! 🙂

I’m hoping once it makes it to the next stage, the tracking page will actually show something other than an error.

I’m curious about the whole build process. Do customer orders take priority? Do they have to batch similar vehicles, etc.

Well, I just got my weekly status code update and it still is 1100.

      35 days of nothing!

I’ve now lost all hope of receiving it before the end of the year.

Yesterday it looks like they removed the order tracking link from the website…

You are dealing with a dealer who has not earned any allocations to place an order. You probably seen this before but its the reality. Find another dealer or wait.

      • 1100, Preliminary order accepted (This means your dealer has entered your order into their system but does not mean they have the allocation to submit the order to GM yet. Speak with your dealer to verify when they expect to be able to submit your order for production)

    • #78123

Many dealers take orders from customers even though they know they only have a certain number of allocations. As with new models there is always more orders than allocations. Think of allocations as GM saying; we can only guarantee our suppliers can deliver the components to make this amount of vehicles.

DOSP – Dealer Order Submission Process

The weekly process consists of 4 stages.

      1. Constraints Distribution – Dealers are informed on constraints to review before placing orders.

      2. Dealer Order Submission – Dealers can order on Thursday, Friday or no later than midnight on Saturday. (You can submit orders earlier but you don’t know the constraints. (A Constraint is a limit placed on an specific build configurations.)

      3. The 4-Pass Process – GM will attempt to place each dealer’s orders on Mondays using a 4-Pass process. (At this point a dealer may get more or less than was allocated, if they asked.)

      4. Dealer Review-You can review your placed orders for changes or replacements until Tuesday at 9pm ET. That’s when the orders are sent to production control.

Good luck tracking a car through Chevy’s website. I ordered my car Sept. 23rd, it was built on Oct. 13 and on OCt 30 the site said at the dealership. It’s Nov. 26 and the car still hasn’t shown up. Give Chevy $50,000.00 and this is how they treat you!!! I will NEVER custom order a car through GM ever again, they have taken the joy out of ordering a custom car!

I think the people that made the Chevy tracking site made the obamacare disaster site…hahaha Chevy could really make this a much more enjoyable procedure if they simply made a system where we could actually track the production of our vehicle… I guess we’re just $$$ to them… Thanks Chevy.

Could I please get a status on my order SBPKX9? Ordered on the first day orders were accepted in Sept. 2014 and order has not moved pass 1100 status. Dealer informed me of constraints on the exposed carbon fiber ground effects, but yet I’m seeing where cars are being built WITH this option.

      @Z15,

      Thank you for the information.

We just got off the phone with the dealer and they continue to say it was submitted on October 21st and nothing about them needing to “submit for production”.

They said that GM has been delaying output because of recalls, and there is a good chance next week might we might finally see some movement.

If I am following you correctly, then all this time they have been just waiting to get an allocation, and the above might not be completely the truth.

The online chat rep said she usually sees orders stay at 1100 for 4 – 6 weeks and then everything happens very quickly after that.

Monday will start the sixth week, so we will see…

Never trust what the dealer tells you.

Allocations – The number of a particular vehicle model a dealer is assigned by GM.

Consensus – The planning and forecasting of vehicles between the dealer and GM. A quantity of vehicles that a dealer requests for a given production period from GM. Based on GM data and constraints they may or may not receive the amount requested.

Constraints – Items that are unavailable for ordering due to plant or supplier issues. This could be a certain option or an entire model of vehicle.

Event code – The status that indicates a certain point in the life cycle of a vehicle.

GM OrderWORKBENCH – The website used for ordering GM vehicles.

Final Allocation by Week Report – This report shows a dealer’s final allocation quantities for the specified production period.

Pass 1 – The preliminary pass of the vehicle order process which looks at only the quantity of preliminary orders that equals the lower of a dealer’s allocation quantity and desired quantity.

Preferenced – Order has been sent to one of the GM production management systems

Preliminary order – A vehicle order that has been submitted to GM through the OrderWORKBENCH system. It would have successfully gone through Pass One. These orders have an Event Code of 1100 (Preliminary Order Accepted)

Priority number – Indicates the dealer’s preference for the placement of a preliminary order. The lower the number the higher the priority. A sold order defaults to a priority of 1, stock orders default to a priority of 99. Priority 0 means that the dealer does not want GM to place the order. The dealer can change these numbers as needed.

Sold order – A preliminary order that is placed for a customer

TPP – Target Production Period – The date range used in order to define the effective period for a marketing or allocation constraint. Also the period when a specified number of vehicles is scheduled to be produced, typically a 1-2 week period.

TPW – Target Production Week – The week in which the specified vehicle is expected to be built.

      How it all works:

      Consensus:
Dealer puts in for requested quantities of different model groups
Dealer allocation quantity changes from “production consensus” to “final allocation” after GM resolves any variances between the approved production volumes and production consensus quantities

Final Allocation by Week Report is released mid month on Wednesday
Report shows allocations by week for 2 week timeframe
Allocations are assigned on Thursday each week
Dealers have until the following Tuesday to resolve constraint issues before orders are pulled

      Ordering:
Order is configured in GM OrderWORKBENCH
Customer information is assigned to order
      Order is checked for constraints
      Order number is generated
By default the sold order is given priority number of 1
After consensus and dealer receives allocation they can apply it to an order
If there are no constraints it will be preferenced
If no action is taken the system will pull the lowest priority number order (1-99)
If multiple orders are at the same priority number it will pull the oldest order first
As long as there are no constraints it will be preferenced
If there are constraints the dealer would have to either re-configure the order or allow a non-constrained order through
Order is eventually run through Pass 2, 3 and possibly a 4th optional one that can be used and GM may also use

I am very interested on trying to track the whereabouts of our 2015 Chevy Colorado ordered. I was advised by the dealer, and a GM person over the phone, that the vehicle is, “scheduled for production”. When? Can anybody narrow this down? How long does the build take once the vehicle is on production line? I’m just trying to get a time line down of when this might be coming in. I’m down one vehicle.
The vehicle build code is SFPHMF.
      Thank you. Phil C.

Scheduled for production is a vague time period, could be days, weeks or months. They should have been able to give you a target production week (TPW). Once the vehicle is built it can take 2-4 wks in transit.

Production event codes, next time you inquire ask for the event code.

      • 500, this is a dealer stock order code used to order common vehicles. Please contact your dealer to receive an actual active order number.
      • 1100, Preliminary order accepted (This means your dealer has entered your order into their system but does not mean they have the allocation to submit the order to GM yet. Speak with your dealer to verify when they expect to be able to submit your order for production)
      • 2000, Order accepted by GM (This means the order has been submitted and accepted by production. You are now on your way.)
      • 2030, Order re-edited (if necessary) (This is simply an edit code showing that something on your order has been changed. It does not mean your order has been accepted to production and really does not mean anything beyond your previous status other than a change has been made.)
      • 2051, Order changed thru Web (same as above)
      • 2500, Order preferenced (This means that the Order has been moved to the stage that parts department is now ready to place the orders for the components that will become your car)
      • 3000, Order accepted by production control (This is the response from production to your 2500 status and is when Parts are actually ordered. No further changes can be made to your order once you reach this point.)
      • 3100, Order available to sequence (This is more or less an inter-office memo from Parts to Production saying all parts are committed to this build, they are clear to sequence them for the build.)
      • 3300, Order scheduled for production (This is the response to the 3100 status where Production is cleared to sequence and schedule the build) TPW usually avaiable
      • 3400, Order broadcast (This is when the order is actually loaded onto the production line computers and parts are being staged for the build)
      • 3800, Order produced (The vehicle is completed and has rolled off the line. A Vin is now available.)
      • 4000, Available to ship (Vehicle is off the line and available to ship)
      • 4104, Bailment Invoice (Shipping documents generated)
      • 4200, Shipped (Vehicle has been moved by a carrier to another location or destination. If in combination with a 4300 status code then this is transfer to either a vendor for upfitting or to a distribution yard for final transportation.)
      • 4300, Intermediate Delivery (In combination with a 4200 this is saying that the vehicle has been transported to a vendor or to a distribution center.)
      • 4B00, Bayed (listed anytime a vehicle is sitting parked waiting for next mode of transportation. It can also be this status while in Quality Control)
      • 4800 Rail Ramp Unload, end of the line by (if) rail. To be delivered by truck to dealer
      • 5000, Delivered to the dealer
      • 6000, Delivered to the customer
