ParticipantWe just got a new 2013 Chevy Equinox with the MyLink system. I was able to “pair” my wife’s Samsung Galaxy SII smartphone, but was unable to sync the Contacts from her phone to the MyLinks Phone settings. I have the same exact phone purchased at the same time at BestBuy, and as soon as I began the “Pair” function between my phone and MyLink, the Contacts list automatically synced with MyLink. I then tried “Deleting” my wife’s phone and tried the repairing again 10 times, and still the same issue, it will not sync the Contact list from her phone. Any ideas???

ParticipantHave you check if your wife’s phone is compatible to the Mylink?

Keymaster@jdoyle19 I believe there is a preference in MyLink settings that enables and disables contact syncing. This takes place on a per-device basis, so I would try the following:
1. Pair your wife’s GSII to MyLink/Equinox
2. Enter the settings for the GSII in the MyLink preferences
3. Turn on contact syncing (if it is, in fact, a setting)Let’s see if that helps 😀

ParticipantMy phone and my wife’s phones are both exactly the same Samsung Galaxy SII. My phone automatically downloaded the Contacts during the “Pairing” and hers just accomplished the “Pairing” only so that she has to select a Contact from her phone to call, then after initiating the call on her phone, the MyLink Bluetooth takes over the call.

ParticipantI just noticed that my phone has a later date of “Android Firmware” than hers does, which is probably the issue.

ParticipantAlex,
I have a 2013 Equinox 2LT and love the features. However I did not get navigation in my vehicle. Instead I use Google Maps and it has always worked fantastically well. However, when I pair my smart phone to the vehicle via Bluetooth, voice navigation instructions cease. I disconnect Bluetooth and voice navigation begins again. I still have the visual navigation. I also have a 2010 Kia Forte and I do not have this problem. I sync my Droid Razr HD to the Forte via Bluetooth, begin Google Map navigation and get voice instructions. When a call comes in, navigation stops and I converse hands free. Converstaion done and once disconnected, voice navigation begins again. Any suggestions?

ParticipantThis may be something that you want to contact your cell phone carrier with. This may be due to compatibility issues. Please let me know if you are able to get this addressed.

Keymaster@wssmit1 Welcome to GM Authority!
I would start by making sure that your Equinox’s radio is on and set to Bluetooth audio/streaming when you’re using your phone’s navigation. That’s something simple, but is easily missed on occasion.
If you could, let me know if you’ve done that already.
Also, does your Equinox have MyLink?

ParticipantGM_Customer_Svc…Why would this be different between Bluetooth operations in various vehicles? It works perfectly with the 2010 Kia Forte, but not with the 2013 Equinox…
Alex…Yes, the radio is on and playing music. My phone auto syncs when I start the engine. When I get a phone call, I answer it via Bluetooth connection. If I activate my navigation system on the phone, audio continues with my radio, Bluetooth activation is engaged, phone calls work normally, but verbal navigation does not exist. And yes, I have MyLink with Pandora and Stitcher…

Keymaster@wssmit1 That’s very strange. Not sure this is a carrier-based issue — it’s either the infotainment unit, or the handset. Let’s try this:
– Is there a setting in your Droid/Google Maps to output voice nav instructions via Bluetooth Audio?
– If not, is there any way you could try using a different nav app and see if the issue persists? Or maybe try using a different handset. The latter step would let us know if it’s the 1) software/app, 2) your device, or 3) the Equinox’s infotainment unit.

ParticipantAlex..There is an off/on voice icon in Google Navigation. I always make sure it is on. Most of the time I begin the navigation sequence before I start my car. I have voice directions. Once Bluetooth syncs, the voice navigation directions cease. However, I have not found a button to use Bluetooth audio. I will be getting a new Droid RAZR HD within the week and will set up Bluetooth and try the navigation to see what happens. I think it is something in the MyLink software.

ParticipantTried Google Map Navigation with a Galaxy SIII and another Droid RAZR; still having the same problem. When devices are paired via Bluetooth to the Equinox I cannot get voice directions from Google Maps, just the map itself. Frustrating since I have no problem when in the Kia…

KeymasterThanks for the update, Wayne. That sounds like a bug in the infotainment system.
Let me see if I can contact someone at GM Media about this.
