ParticipantThe first and third renderings are awful! No more retro and no more round headlights.
Why anyone would want another retro Camaro based off the second gen is beyond me.

ParticipantThe retro looks outstanding, but don’t degrade the original by tying to bring the 70 RS style back.

ParticipantThe retro will die soon if not the 6th gen than definitely by the 7th.
I think all of the renderings are bad. But if I had to pick it would the middle one.
I am actually of opinion that the next gen camaro should go modern but with just a hint of all the important iconic retro touches of course.
It had a nice run with the retro but its time to move on

Keymaster@Critter I think you’re referring to something like the Northstar… which was discontinued (to pretty much everyone’s great dismay):
http://gmauthority.com/blog/2010/06/cadillacs-northstar-v8-ending-production-after-17-year-run/Rumor has it that several years ago, GM had a next-gen Northstar ready to go, but shelved it in favor of using the small block push-rod/LS-series.
Either way, the time of the full-sized V8 in passenger cars is coming to an end, especially with boosted V6 applications capable of making over 400 hp, as the TT LFX is rumored to produce:

ParticipantIt would be a waste of money for GM to develop a new V8 block that was physically larger and taller than the LS series. If GM did as you suggest, drop the OH valvetrain for OHC, there wouldn’t be a V8 aftermarket, or rather, a market of individuals who want affordable power.
Also, having a high RPM doesn’t indicate anything, it just shows how much needless reving the engine must do to reach peak. The LS’s haven’t had much difficult with greater accessable torque at lower RPM’s, and with torque values that come on stronger and sooner than comprible V8’s.

KeymasterInteresting rendering. Yeah, something along those lines — but with more of the “new” incarnation of the Art and Science design language.

ParticipantThat looks pretty good, does have some solstice in it(or maybe it just looks like that to me becuase there in the same class) , definitely better than the chiseled XLR.

ParticipantThe old school cars had taste,a pizaz, flare, or what ever you want to call it. They had their own personality. The new “modern” cars of today have no style, all the models/brands look almost identical. Like they were cut out of the same cookie cutter.
The next gen Camaro will have to break the cookie cutter or it will flop with out the retro styling.
IMO the corvette renderings above are great and show a some personality…who ever made them did a great job and GM should think about hiring them.
@Grawdaddy I’d rather see round head lights than some of the mutated ones that are coming out now-days. -

Participantfirst of all the caddy looks a little like a solstice cause it was rendered back when gm said every brand was gonna have at least one kappa car those renderings are everywhere if you know how to look. second companies can get away with retro if they do it right. and personally i like the camaro rendering cause it points back to my favourite body style.
