Has anyone heard of issues with the Redwood Metallic paint other than it has been discontinued. I think it is beautiful and traveled to North Dakota to pick up a 24 Sierra Denali Ultimate as nothing was available closer to me. It appears that the paint chips and leaves a whitish mark under the chip. By chip, i mean that many noticeable chips happened on the way back from the Dakotas as we drove to Washington state. There was snow and some sand on the highway but no chips in the front as I don’t ride close to anything that could send up rocks but about half of the doors on both sides of the cab have sever chipping.
This is aside from the chips and dings on the multi-pro tailgate which dropped on the way back do to the issue that caused the recall. GMC is stepping up to have the tailgate and bed repainted but after looking at the paint with one of their paint guys, it looks like the paint may chip easily and I wonder if this is the reason the paint was discontinued. The truck is only a few months old and it looks much worse for wear than it should.
Hoping someone knows something…
