My radio screen goes black while I have the navigation running and reboots back to the main screen kicking off any navigation I had running. It was happening about 3 times in a month, I took to dealer they said they did a ‘radio update’ but now its almost every day. They said I might have to ‘leave the car for them to drive around to try to duplicate the issue’. Not happening…it could be 45 minutes down the road or 15 minutes down the road. I am not leaving my car for some stranger to drive around for days/hours to see if it goes black on them. Why would I make this up. I see a lot of other people having the same and/or similar issues. I have to go back to the dealership AGAIN so they can see what can be done next. I have 2014 Encore with 23K miles on it; this should NOT be happening. This is the first GM product I have owned that has had these issues.
Hi @akita
I have heard of this before and it’s most likely a hardware issue, which will require your dealer to replace the IntelliLink system in your Encore. And since that’s the case, they do need to “see” the problem before fixing it.
Now, I understand that it can suck to leave your car with them and drive to duplicate the problem. So my recommendation is — if you can — shoot a video on your phone the next time this happens. Ask your dealer if a video of this happening will suffice.
You could also try resetting the system from the Settings menu… this might help, but I don’t think it will ultimately resolve the underlying problem is the issue is, in fact, caused by hardware.
