Was wondering if someone could explain the order codes, we placed an order 2 months ago for a 2023 Chevy Traverse, we were under the impression the order was submitted. Per our salesperson this weekend, we are still code 1100, Preliminary Order Status, which would mean the dealer is “waiting for allocation to submit the order to GM”, we were also led to believe per the dealership that orders were running 4 – 6 months, but they are seeing the ordered cars arriving in about 3 – 3 1/2 months, just really getting nervous about how long this process really takes, salesperson is very vague and says ” we just have to wait until we hear something”, I know we are still early in the process. But do you generally move through the “codes” fairly quick once GM accepts the order, like in the next couple months, or since we are still “preliminary” after the first 2 months. Is this going to be months to get the car? We are hoping by the end of October, is that even realistic? Just not sure why we are still preliminary, waiting for allocation to even submit the order. And what determines when the dealer gets the “allocation” to submit the order. This is all very frustrating.

I ordered a Chevy duramax from the “wrong dealer” on April 1. 12 weeks later it was still at 1100! June 25 I ordered from the “right dealer” and I have a truck sitting in Flint Michigan! Once it gets accepted by GM, code 2000, I think it moves fast! Call the biggest dealer in your state on Thursday and ask them if they were allocated a Traverse that isn’t spoken for, if they have and order it, you will be on your way to getting your ride!

Dealers that sell fewer of any particular vehicle will get fewer allocations. You could wait several months for one dealer to get an allocation for the vehicle you want when a larger dealer could be getting allocations but remember that larger dealer also has more customers on waiting lists also. As for moving along, it is anyones guess. Until the order is accepted by GM it is not going anywhare and after allocation again it is anyones guess. The factory could go into a week or even months long shut down or vehicle could be built shy and vehicle could sit for weeks or months waiting completion. Transportation is a whole other issue. Bottom line is it is a crap shoot and no one really knows. Dealers that tell you otherwise are the ones to avoid because they are BS’ing you to get you to wait. A couple weeks ago I was told GM was going to start shipping built shy Equinox’s to the dealers without inner fenders and put no sale holds on them until they receive the parts to finish.
