      Does this work when I am in an area where there is no cell service

      Well it did for me. None of use could get a cell signal but Onstar answered 911 immediately. They have more powerful systems that can reach farther than a handheld phone can.

      OnStar’s cellular service has a better range than most cell phones (and bigger antenna) a full three watts instead of a regular cell phone’s 0.6 watts. Although you can still lose service in some remote areas.
