Oil change reminder recommends changing oil about 7500 miles
I tow a travel trailer (about 7K) My sierra has a tow package (9400 lb tow rating)
I use Mobil 1 synthetic, 5W30
I have 20K miles, about 1/2 of the usage is for towing
Do I need to change oil more often?
The 2016 requires 0W-20 synthetic. The correct oil is more important now than ever with the tight tolerances, two stage oil pumps and high flow lubrication requirements of today’s modern GM engines.
Beginning in 2012, oil pumps began to regulate main gallery feedback instead of pump output pressure, which means that the oil pump does not begin to regulate until pressure is built up to the main gallery. This change reduces the amount of time it takes to provide oil to the engine bearing and lifters during extreme cold start conditions.

As for changing oil more often? IMO no as long as you use the correct oil. If you have any engine related problems, do not tell them use are using 5W-30 as they could use that to deny warranty coverage.
