I was set to sell my Sierra Denali Ultimate for the new Sierra EV, but there is a deal breaker that stopped me. Why would GMC not place a driver hand grasp is unbelievable. I must use my hand grasp to enter and exit my Sierra. Certainly not supporting those with ADA needs. The other issue is that huge glass moonroof with no shade. For the asking price GMC dropped the ball big time. I can only hope this is corrected for the 2026 version. Hate to think the only way to get a USA electric truck is to buy a Ford.
I’ve had an Avalanche since 2003, and there is no driver hand grasp in that one, either. There is a steering wheel, however.! That seems to work just fine for getting in. Works fine in the Sierra EV, too. Why can’t you use the steering wheel as a handle?
As far as the glass roof goes: I’ve had a Tesla in Phoenix, AZ for the last 4 years, and I expected to roast in it. Amazingly enough, that hasn’t been the case! The special glass used reflects enough of the sun’s heat that it has not been a problem. I was ready to purchase a solar screen for the Tesla, and have never needed it.
Now that I also have the Sierra EV, I’m not worried about the glass roof. BTW, it was 86 degrees and full sun in Phoenix today, February 4, and the truck was cooled right down by the AC.
