Dad started with GM at the Rochester Products Division when it opened in 1939 and finally retired in 1986. I started my actual association with GM at a Chevrolet Dealer’s Parts Department in 1975. In 1977 I too joined Rochester Products as a Mechanical Setter on the QuadraJet Set & Pack Line. In ’79 I was awarded an Apprenticeship as a Millwright. I spent most years in the Production Departments responding to assembly line shutdowns & issues. In 1986 GM offered it’s first “Buyout (VTEP)”. I took the offer & moved to Florida where I have been working with FPL part of NextEra for the last 26 years. Power Generation (making electricity) is very stable work!
Nice! Welcome to GM Authority, @mjdart — it’s great to have you!
Coincidentally, I’ve lived in South Florida for roughly 10 years and am very familiar with FPL.
Hope you enjoy your time here at GMA!
