While traveling in 2016, I noticed that the posted turnpike speed limit was 10 mph more than what was being displayed on the navigation map. I asked about this via another posting on this site and was told that a navigation update would be the solution, This was the first time I had heard of an update. At that time, it seemed too expensive to install on a 2-year old car (2014 Malibu). I waited for OVER ONE YEAR and purchased the update, with a promotional rate. I installed the update in early June of this year–the process and verification went well. Three weeks later, I was on the same stretch of turnpike and saw that the speed limit was NOT UPDATED. This was the only reason I spent money on an update–for current speed limits. I made several phone calls to register a complaint and of course, was denied a reimbursement after waiting several days for a reply. I wonder what else wasn’t updated.
Bottom line–BEWARE of spending any amount of money for something that doesn’t do what it’s advertised to do.

I have a stupid question about the nav update. Did it update the entire mylink? I have a 2016 equinox and my wife has a 2017. The interface on the 2017, and “home screen” when off is much cleaner and nicer looking. With the Chevy logo and mylink font being changed.

Did the update change that for you or just the map?

      Thanks!

It’s not a stupid question. This update is SUPPOSED to update the NAVIGATION MAP. It didn’t do what I expected. I didn’t check everything, i.e., points of interest, gas stations, restaurants, etc. I was only concerned with the speed limits, which didn’t happen,.
The “look” of your screen will stay the same.

Well, here it is 2024 and it’s still buyer beware. We got (several) email notifying us the the nav update for our 2020 Traverse IS $50 OFF! so we decided to spend the $100. We’re in a newish house (18 months) in a newish subdivision (24 month) and the neighborhood is not on the 2020’s maps so it would be nice to have the update.

Lo and behold, we are NOT on the update. Checked several changes I know of in the past couple years and they ARE not on the update. So we got an UPDATE the was at least two years out of date.

One other thing, I was a coder at one time, and tangentially connected to a group doing GIS. It should be absolutely no problem to produce an update on demand that is actually up to date in no time. And it should not cost $150. Seriously, think I’ll explore the formats on the old card and see what I can do.
