The new “GM Digital Vehicle Platform” (formally Global B electrical architecture) is now being introduced onto vehicles; starting with the CT5, will be on the Escalade, and “should be rolled out to most vehicles within GM’s global lineup by 2023.”
But what do we know about the technical details of this new electrical architecture? Sure we have the press releases about “4.5 terabytes of data processing power per hour”, utilizing “Ethernet connections of 100Mbps, 1Gbps, and 10Gbps”, and taking “five years of research and development involving 300 engineers and over 100 patents”. But do we know anything about the technical implementation yet?
A technical whitepaper would be fascinating to see how GM sees this electronics architecture bringing them into the future. With the CT5 out there, I would have figured that we would have been learning some of this stuff now; even if GM is not talking about it directly.
If anybody has seen any good articles, form posts, or other information; I would love to read more about the new GM Digital Vehicle Platform.
