The government ordered it from GM and sent it down to Armortek in Texas, then up to Salt Lake City to Advanced Four Wheel Drive Systems for a 1 ton GMC front end. Then they gave it to the Cuban diplomats in Miami for 3 years then Nevada got it to look for oil in Elko, NV. Then the Utah Olympics took it and put $10k in the upholstery, paint and drive line. Four months after that, I got it in an auction for $12,500. It has bullet-resistant glass and steel plates in the walls. (I found that out when I pulled the carpet off the walls and a 3/8″ A-R plate fell out. That plate at the scrapyard paid for the interior.)

’93 G30 454 4×4 EXT, 4l80E, np205, 4-56 spicers in a DANA front and GM Corp rear, Bilstein 5100s, BFG 315/75/16, 146″ wheelbase. This was all factory or government, well almost. I have increased the tire size to mellow The Beast, but it’s still way more motor than tire. They only made three. It’s a two-seater. I ripped out the four bench seats, diamond deck plated the floor, Oaked the walls and added fishing rod racks, limousine roof, 12 speaker 1000 watt Sony surround, exercise bike, telescope that you can count the rings of Saturn and, oh yea, a hammock to sleep in and watch the stars.

In February 2011 it made Hot Rod and Truckin’ magazines and then Drive magazine two months later. Since then it’s made Custom 4×4, Extreme 4×4 and Thunders Garage.

The Beast did 270 miles of the Baja 1,000 in ’03 as a chase truck (got 8 MPG). I went from here to Tucson and back in 10 hours and last May I took a seven week road trip to the Florida Keys and back, 6,700 miles (got 14 MPG). I have two of these: one for the dirt and one for the street. The other is a ’92 G30 454 EXT. but thats another thread….

Now it graces LMC TRUCK web ft page & has been the feature van for a yr. I guess they are waiting for something better …

      Hope you like it !
