what does everybody think of the new ATLAS concept?? Do you think it will again hurt both the GM twins considering that the ATLAS does have a lot of stuff that the GM twins doesn’t have?? I dont know if you guys agree but it just seems like that truck just used the current F150 body and then slab the face of the super duty and call it a day.

Atlas doesn’t look bad but a little too busy front end. Some features look like they would fit well with evolutionary Chevy design, like the headlights that are stacked and splited, hood with bulges on mid sides, another (plastic) bulge that is located center near windshield came straight from GMC HD, Grille also appears to have Chevy cues but that middle bar stops at nostrils, then continues into headlights. I like how ford tries new little features with their trucks shows that they want to lead and stay sales king. There is room though, I hope GM won’t sit cuz I can come up with at least 5 great features for a truck.

I mean like they have some nice features on the ATLAS concept like automatically put the car in reverse and reverse to the trailer but is that really necessary enough to put on the truck??

The concept itself looks good… it’s an advancement of Ford’s Super Duty styling. Me? I’ll still take the new Silverado. Our videos coming shortly of the new trucks 🙂

Lex: well they have that but i meant that they can automatically park itself and backup it self to tow the trailer. Alex: but after those technology puts in do you think GM will play the catch up again?

Vic, it’s a cool feature, but I wonder what it’ll cost extra? as long as I have back up camera I’m good BTW if you can’t parallel park or back up to a trailer? Maybe you shouldn’t be driving with trailers or driving at all. The 360 view is not something new, I’ve driven Infinity’s with this feature, and I think it’s great and hopefully GM with have it sooner then later.

Alex did you look at those new silvy’s thoroughly? With open hood? I wonder what inner front body structure look like.

That’s what I’m thinking like if you can’t parallel park or back up to your trailer how do you still manage to get a driver’s license?? For the Bird’s eye camera Idk I would think it might be a little confusing?? Because the Rogue has one of those but it looks confusing somehow…. I kinda like how Honda has the blind spot camera on their Accord though… But I kinda would like to know how come GM isn’t doing NightVision anymore??

I wonder how the “self back up to trailer” works, is some kind of sensor needs to be installed on a trailer? Or the truck actually recognize a trailer (which I doubt)?

Or using camera??? I really would like to know how they engineered that????

One thing to keep in mind, @Vic1212 is that ATLAS is just a concept, and is at least two years away, at that. When its comes to market as the F-150, it may not have any of the technology seen on the concept… we’ll see.

I don’t know Alex it might sound like Ford will make that technology work in order to beat GM

      What gives you that impression?

I meant it kinda started with their Sync system, then onto their TT V6 and proving that it still works hard like their V8, and then now their MyFord Touch on the 2013 F150. It just seems like they want to exceed their competition by all these advancement onto their trucks. Like the Super Duty and the Silverado HD

@vic1212 Yupp, that’s a fair assessment. But as far as generations of vehicles go, competitors will always switch around at who is best based on releases.

For instance, when GM’s new trucks come out this summer, they will be more competitive than Ford’s trucks. Then when Ford releases the 2015 F-150 in two years, Ford is likely to have an advantage. Then GM might make some tweaks to theirs, and top Ford. This also works for pretty much any other product (outside of cars) in the marketplace. All in all, it depends on the timing of the releases.

another point that I’m also wondering is that when the F150 goes aluminum or like using the TT V6 if it still able to win the tug of war….

Tug of war is plain pointless, it does not prove truck capabilities. With the right tires and added weight and of coarse a great driver, you can take on a stock HD truck with a half ton.

@Lex missed your question from earlier: they kept the hoods shut… even the cabins were locked. But the one time I did get into the cabin, the lever to pop the hood didn’t do anything. Pre-production 🙂
