Participantthe title explains it all…. it’s parent’s car. We have checked the battery and it’s fine. We even shake and kinda hit the battery itself. I don’t think it’s the starter problem though. This problem occured several times though. Last time we replace one of the cable because it was bad but this time i’m not sure what it is. Help?

ParticipantYou hit and shook the battery but did you stir the transmission fluid?

ParticipantIf its the original battery, it may be shorting out, has a bad cell. Shaking it and then working suggests it could be that. Just because there are lights on when opening doors is no indication of a good battery. What happens when you crank it with the doors open or the light on? If they go out or go very dim, needs changing or bad battery. Is there is not enough power, it won’t fire the injectors.

ParticipantWhat year is your vehicle and the mileage? I can check the VIN to see if there are any applicable warranties.

Participantit has about 72000 miles and its 2007 but it’s weird because and i’m not really sure which cable the shop replaced and the battery is still good i know for sure because i bought the battery not too long ago. Maybe like half a year ago.

ParticipantTo be 110% sure its not the battery, I would recommend you use another car and try jumping, like Z15 said the lights being on don’t mean much.
And make sure the terminals are right, and if there tight then try replacing them, they don’t cost much, they may be why it started after you shook the battery.

ParticipantBecause right now what I end up to do is to turn off everything before starting the car so turn off the lights, air conditioner, radio, etc then I can start the car but without turning off all those it won’t start and I have to do this everything that I’m going to drive the car.

ParticipantHave your battery tested with a load tester to determine if it is ok. Many auto parts stores will do this for free in hopes of selling you something. I would suggest going to more than one store to get a 2nd or 3rd opinion to make sure they are not just trying to sell you a new battery or alternator. Then if you need a new battery, go pay the premium price and buy an AC Delco battery.
Until you do this its all a guessing game. But one thing to keep in mind, cheap batteries are just that, made cheap and often have a high failure rate.
