Participantwish someone from (GM head quarters) ride with me in my 16 encore base and tell me how quite it is with its whiny pitch sound. Noise Cancellation technology must not be doing its job in mines Mayble false advertisement do I have a case hmm. I was told this, noise have to do with it being a timing chain, by the dealer mechanic I told him this was the same nosie I heard from my cirrus before it went ? the nosie cancelling don’t work, the whine it’s heard very well from 0-25mph I aways turn my radio starting the car up because this whine sound feels the whole suv, when it’s cold the sound is 10x louder. BTW I have less then 7,000 on it today.

KeymasterIf the sound you are referring to is outside of the operation norms of the vehicle, then no amount of Noise Cancellation will help you.
1. What does your dealer say about the sound?
2. Can you record an audio or video of the sound on your smartphone and share it with us here? -

KeymasterI’d recommend recording the video and uploading to YouTube, then posting the link to the video here.
If the noise is continuous, then it doesn’t sound like the vehicle is functioning as intended. But I wouldn’t be able to tell you without hearing it.

KeymasterI don’t think anyone got a chance to look at it since the videos are already expired… could you upload them to YouTube, where they don’t expire?

KeymasterThanks for the video, @NoPeaceOfMind17. I watched it three times at full volume on my headphones and for the life of me could not hear the “whine”.
For the sake of information, here’s what QuietTuning is: a process that consists of acoustically enhanced windshield and side glass, along with numerous noise canceling acoustic treatments to reduce, block and absorb noise and vibration to create a quiet interior cabin.
So, QuietTuning isn’t magic. It’s not like it will be able to cancel out extremely loud or abnormal noises. It sounds like the issue you’re experiencing has nothing to do with QuietTuning or Noise Canceling… or any of that, but is rather an issue with a vehicle component.
I’m not sure what could be causing it… but has your dealer stated that this is normal behavior? Have you had a chance to drive another “base” Encore? If so, does it do the same thing?
