      I have a 2012 Equinox. I like the Infotainment feature that allows me to hook up my iPod via USB. I have an iPod Classic 120GB, which I realize is not the latest iPod Classic model. The info (artists, albums, etc) all display on the screen in the dash. However, it displays and plays the tracks on every album by any artist in ALPHABETICAL order by track name as opposed to the tracks being listed and played in numerical order (track # 1 through track # 8, for example) the way they would be found on the actual CD or in my iTunes library. Is there any way I can “fix” this issue?

      Hi @jbergen — and welcome to GM Authority!

      That’s an interesting question. I haven’t personally experienced this, but I think there is a setting in the Equinox infotainment system that enables you to set where/how tracks are displayed. I won’t have access to an Equinox until Friday… perhaps you can take a look in yours in the meantime?

      I have not been able to solve this issue. There are no menu options (that I can find, at least) that allow me to set where/how tracks are displayed. Did you have any chance to investigate this issue further?

      @jbergen Do you have access to one of the new iPods, an iPhone, or an iPad to try this out on and see if the same thing happens there? I even have an iPod Touch sitting here that I don’t really use that I would lend to you to test it out. You’re not in Alaska, by chance, are you?

      @jbergen
      I have an 80GB iPod with video (basically an iPod Classic) and am experiencing the exact same thing (album tracks in alphabetical order vs track order). Have you been able to resolve this, or have you been able to further test and/or duplicate with a newer gen iPod?

      I have an iPhone 4S (about as new as these things get), and it has the exact same problem. Believe me, “Dark Side of the Moon” in alphabetical order just doesn’t cut it. Has anyone solved the mystery?

      @suzyq Looks to be a bug in the infotainment system in the vehicle itself…

      Try listening to “The Wall” in alphabetical order….
      Another Brick in the Wall, Part 1
      Another Brick in the Wall, Part 2
      Another Brick in the Wall, Part 3

      IMO this is a major bug issue. It’s far more distracting to the driver search of the song you want to hear rather than just being able to start at track 1 on an album. It also doesn’t seem to be an issue on all infotainment systems. My friend has a 2012 Camaro and the tracks play in order. Is there a process to get software updates if this is ever fixed? I know that with the Ford sync system they release software you can download to a USB stick and update that way. I’ve had my Equinox for about a week now and this is a major annoyance.

      I’m gonna try the Ipod nano to see if it works on my terrain.

      I just tried it and it works flawlessly with the iPod nano

      @Busybox I believe the systems are updatable, but whether that’s done by the user or is only limited to the dealer(s) is another question. Perhaps @GM_Customer_Svc Brand can help clarify this.

      Also, Ford’s SYNC is updateable… ironically, Ford issues updates for its systems very infrequently, if ever.

      @Vic1212
      That’s interesting. So in other words, the infotainment system lists the tracks as they are ordered by a user in a playlist when connected to an iPod Nano but lists/rearranges them alphabetically when connected to an iPod Touch, iPhone, or iPod Classic. Does that accurately sum up the situation?

      when I had my ipod touch attached to the infotainment system of my Terrain it’s pretty much the same thing(it’s like how it is on the ipod nano when I attached it to the car). So in another words it was pretty much the same. But then again is there like voice commands for the Ipod/USB? And another thing is that I’ve saw a few videos for Mylink/Intellilink/CUE and the speaker they all sound the same as the ones from SYNC. IDK but I think it sounds the same but I just wanted to know if it’s by the same company as for My/Intel/Cue and Sync?

      Vic — I just saw that you posted this and wanted to answer you.

      I forget — does your Terrain have IntelliLink? I don’t think it did, but just wanted to make sure. If it doesn’t, I believe that there are a few voice commands that you can still use…

      In regards to the voice — that may sound the same as Ford’s SYNC, but the systems have nothing in common as far as I know. SYNC is based on Microsoft’s Automotive platform; GM’s systems are mostly its own Linux-based software with integrations from a few providers (like Nuance).

      It doesn’t it’s just the regular color touch with nav. But it just seems like the ones with the voice of the speaker on the MyLink/intellilink sounds familiar with the ones on the Sync
