2012 silverado LT W/ 5.3 engine 30k miles–purchased w/ 18k miles at 23k miles first oil change since purchase noticed what looks like abnormally large gold flakes in oil about the size of a straight pin head.Fine oil deposits are normal ,these are larger than i`m used to seeing.Had oil analysed at blackstone labs and they said all wear material amounts normal.Does anyone know if gold flakes larger than fine debris is normal for these new generation engines? I have also noticed it in other gm cars.Obviously the filter is protecting the engine because there are no oil press problems.Just wondering anyone else finding the same thing.-CHECK YOUR OIL WITH A STRONG FLASHLIGHT.
