I have been driving Yukon XL’s since the ’90’s and they were always 2500 454’s until my 2016 which was my first 6.2. Right now I am driving a 2023 AT4 Yukon XL 6.2 and it performs well.

When the 2025’s become available to order I plan on getting an AT4 Ultimate Yukon XL with the “new” 3.0 diesel. I know that I will be happy with the MPG but will I do you think that I will be able to tolerate the difference in “off-the-line” performance and the extra maintenance required for the diesel?

You will not be disappointed in off the line performance. The torque in the engine does a great job when you ask that out of it. You will also like the mpg’s as you go down the road. My Brother and me both drive 3.0 and on longer haws it is not uncommon to see a 30 on the dash. You can also get descent milage around town if you are not in a big rush. I am very pleased with my purchase. Hope
      you will be too.

Have 2022 1500 with a 3.0. The off the line performance was great. The mpg was unbelievable up to 45 mpg on some trips. Towed my 26’ micro light around the country for over 20,000 mi and averaged about 14 mpg. Right until it seized up at 39,000 mi. Really miss that mpg .
Hopefully you’ll enjoy the mpg too.

@xlguy Last week, I had two Sierras 1500s in my driveway. One was my AT4 with the 6.2L L87 and the other was a Denali with the 3.0L Duramax LZ0 (the “new” one). Obviously, the Sierra is the same as the Yukon, but they do ride on the same platform and have similar size and weight characteristics, along with the exact same powertrains.

In any event, the L87 was very quick and peppy off the line in the same way you’re already familiar with your Yukon currently. The LZ0 was noticeably slower off the line, but picked up quick after that thanks to its massive torque. The difference in off-the-line performance noticeable when the two are driven back to back.

Where the LZ0 truly shines is on the highway, where it purrs and delivers substantially higher real world fuel economy.

Hope that helps. Have you ordered your Yukon yet?
