Please review my situation and offer your comments, experiences and recommendations for solutions

On September 29 2024 I placed a custom build work bench order with a dealer for a 2024 Colorado WT. I built to price on the GM family first web site (ex GM employee) I choose the WT Convenience Package ($ 415.00), WT Convenience Package II ($ $ 545), 17″ all season spare tire ($235), spray on bed liner ($475), Turbo Maxx engine ($1,050). The math works out as follows:
      Standard Vehicle Price $ 29,800
      WT Convenience Package ($ 415.00)
      WT Convenience Package II ($ $ 545)
17″ all season spare tire ($235)
      spray on bed liner ($475
      Turbo Maxx engine ($1,050)
Total vehicle and options total = $ 32,520
      Destination freight $ 1,595
      Total MSRP = $ 34,115
      Gm Employee discount -$ 2,552
GM employee price after discount =$ 31,563
      Plus N.M. tax =$ 1,317
      Documentation fee = $ 335
      Downpayment deposit = -$ 1,563.22
Sum total of costs due at delivery = $ 31,652.00

Thee above actions generated a GM work bench order # DVJPJZ it was transmitted into the GM build and achieved an “ACCEPTED” status.
I communicated to both the dealership and GM family first customer service to learn when it will be placed onto the assembly line. Both parties informed me that although accepted and acknowledged by GM, it has been sitting in this que for 0ver one month and a send to assembly build line date has not been established yet.

In follow up discussions with the dealership I have been informed that the vehicle is “still in preliminary what that means it still sitting there more than likely it’s gonna be a 2025 when it’s assembled, but I will definitely know that probably in another two weeks or so. ”
But here is what I don’t understand about the dynamics of my circumstances. WITHOUT my permission, how can a deposit binded contract that I engaged in with the dealership for my 2024 Colorado, be usurped unilaterally and be transformed into a 2025 Colorado and leave me exposed to, as of yet to be quantified (I expect a likely $ 2,000.00 increase), open ended (heavily probable) price increase(s)?

Through information I extracted from this web site it states, Chevrolet Colorado Wentzville, MO 2025MY Production Start Dec 2, 2024.

I am not damaged by the length of time it takes to complete the build and establish delivery, this I can tolerate. But I can be damaged by the vagaries of open ended pricing. It is akin to having signed a “Blank Check”. Certainly, no reasonable individual would find this acceptable or even legal. I haven’t been able to buy any new vehicle in over 25 years. This situation is seemingly appearing as either a bait and switch or a real poor unprofessional salesmanship for a custom order that came to them out of the ether.

Can you tell me or recommend how such a conflict resolution process would be achieved? I can’t afford to pay any amount greater than what I and the dealership created the sales contract for. I am expecting that I am going to have to cancel this order and regain my downpayment back and then go buy a Ford Maverick which already is a cheaper product.

Best regards and thanks for your attention in this case.

      Best regards

      Scott
