ParticipantPurchased a 2022 2500 HD Custom on May 25th. Was built in Oshawa and finished on May 19th. My first monthly payment came and went and no truck. I was told at time of purchase that if I don’t have the truck by that time the dealer will make my first payment. I called this week, asked about it and how will they proceed and I have gotten nothing. Obviously I made the first payment. I was also told GM plant in Oshawa was closing which is the reason for the hold up………Really?! So thats why 2023 HD’s are starting production soon.
I hate this crap from dealers. I have had nothing but crap since last November from different dealers. I was told “we will do right by you” by this dealer…..Yeah ok, sure you will.

ParticipantI would contact GM and let them know that you have made a payment and have no truck.

ParticipantDefinitely contact GM and inform them what your dealer is doing!
You should not have signed a contract and financing until truck is delivered to dealer. You should have been able to place the order with a deposit.
I have read about others in your position that the dealer is stepping up and making payments. If I was you I would be at the dealers tomorrow morning and raise h*** if they don’t reimburse the payment and agree to make all payments until truck arrives.
Also make sure warranty does not begin before delivery.
Did you finance through GM or your own lender? The lender may also require you to purchase insurance for a truck you don’t have.If your dealer told you that the Oshawa plant is closing….. they lied to you!
Oshawa plant has delayed start up of 2023 production from 7/18/22 to 9/12/22 but that should not have any effect on a truck already built. The Flint plant is on schedule to begin producing 2023 trucks on 7/18/22.Unfortunately for all of us there are lots of delays in transport and delivery that GM is not very transparent about so most dealers are just as much in the dark about delivery dates as the consumer. That may be why your dealer is making up stories but that along with getting you to sign a contract and financing, ghosting you on response and lying to you sure appears to be a shady dealer or at least salesperson. Have you spoken to the dealership manager and/or owner? If not do so! and make sure they know you are contacting GM management.
FYI – I ordered a 2022 2500HD Custom on 12/22/21, it never even got built due to constraints and lack of allocation for local dealer.
I learned a few weeks ago, from dealer, that GM is not building any more long beds this year so I needed to reorder for a 23 model, with no idea of the price yet or delivery date! All this has been done with a deposit and no signed contract until delivery so I can still cancel at any time and get my deposit refunded. That is how an honest dealer operates.Unfortunately your dealer has put you in a bad situation and needs to take responsibility!
Please educate yourself and do some internet research on GM and Chevy forums and this GMA site, along with others, and you will find hundreds if not thousands of people in the same boat, waiting for vehicles to be built or waiting for many months for built vehicles to be delivered due to this administration forced shut down of industry that has created havoc in many industries world wide and will be with us for some time. So you need to be aware that you may be in for a long wait or it could show up with no notice but there is now way to know for sure with GM not informing consumers reliably and an uncooperative dealer it is even tougher.
In case you are not aware… you can go to chevy.com and go the chat line to inquire about vehicle status. You will need to furnish the six digit order number, only available from the dealer, you will usually get a response from a bot and can ask to speak to an agent but many find any info. provided to be unreliable but may be worth a shot.
Good luck!
