ParticipantI have a 2013 Cruze Eco. The Stitcher and Pandora functions link nicely with my Iphone 4S and ATT. Except that ATT almost immediately contacted me and reminded me that tethering my Iphone is prohibited under my unlimited data plan. ATT confirmed that connecting my Iphone to the Mylink and using the Stitcher/Pandora apps is, indeed, tethering. So, it is either give ATT more money for a data plan that allows tethering (and limits data), or only use bluetooth from my phone to the Mylink to get Stitcher and Pandora audio, which is what I’m doing now. But the apps on the Mylink provide a nicer interface and, maybe, better sound.
Anyone have the same experience? Suggestions?

Keymaster@mike5335 Welcome to GM Authority!
To make sure I understand fully: all you are doing is using the Pandora/Stitcher apps on your phone and they are being projected on the MyLink screen in your Cruze, correct?
If so, this is the first time I’ve ever heard about this and want to thank you for bringing it up. I’m going to reach out to ATT about this to get their statement and policies.

ParticipantThat is correct, Alex. I’m connecting the Iphone 4S to the MyLink through the USB, launching the Pandora app on the MyLink, and playing “my stations” on Pandora.
I did call ATT and the representative confirmed specifically that connecting my phone through the Pandora application on the MyLink was tethering.
Thanks for any help!
Best,
Mike

ParticipantHow did you get unlimited data from AT&T on a iPhone 4S?

ParticipantI have been an ATT wireless customer since 2007. They were offering unlimited data plans then. My understanding is that ATT doesn’t offer the unlimited data plan currently but I “get” to keep it as long as I continue as a customer.

Participantmike5335, This seems to be ATT’s way of trying to play “boss”. By using the Pandora and Sticher Apps through Chevrolet Mylink, you are simply utilizing the functionality of the apps through another display. Chances are you data usage shot up dramatically by using the apps due to the convenience of it through Mylink. This is however does not matter. You are still using data through your iphone 4s, it is only being projected elsewhere. Let me know if you get word from ATT or GM. Working at a dealership I’m curious what they have to say.

ParticipantI talked with both GM and ATT before posting here. And you are correct about the data usage going up.
I’m hoping for a reply from Alex (see his post of Nov 14).
