I have been bringing this up here at GM Authority ever since news broke about the next gen trailblazer. This would bring a unique ride to the market, a 2 door with smaller suicide style doors and a strong 4×4 platform. What does everyone think of this.
Interesting. I would put the FJ into the same class as a Wrangler in that the target market is looking for the same vehicle attributes, which ultimately are the ability to go anywhere/off-road.
The Wrangler is doing well, the FJ is being discontinued, and the only other vehicle I see with similar capability is the Benz G-Wagon.
I’d like to see such a vehicle myself from Chevy, since I believe it needs to compete with all mainstream models and makes… but this one is a tough one, since the entire market is pretty much dominated by one manufacturer (Jeep) and the Wrangler has a cult-like following around it. Or did I forget another vehicle in the same/similar category?
Alex, you are absolutely right. Personally I own 2 Chevy Blazers a 99 4 door and a 98 2 door, I love these vehicles and will probably buy another. However I wish the 2 door had better access to the back and was a little more functional. I would love to see an FJ styled vehicle from Chevy that had the function of a Hond element but the ability of a Jeep.
