I have a buddy who is debating between the Cruze and the Focus. He doesn’t have any particular needs, he just wants the better car. What would you guys recommend? Of course, you already know my recommendation… but I’m hoping to show him this thread in a couple of days… which will hopefully convince him to get the Cruze.
I’ll not be replacing my car any time soon so I’ll comment on what my wife likes. Focus 5 dr.
@wbodyfan Depends on what your buddy wants. Both handle great, both have great interior tech (pending arrival of MyLink for the Cruze mid-2012), and both are great on gas. If he’s considering the sedans, I would take the Cruze.
I prefer the Cruze’s styling, interior design, and driving characteristics to the Focus. And if he’s looking for a stick, the Cruze’s 1.4T and 6-speed combination is hard to beat (Focus only has a 5-speed in manual).
He really can’t go wrong with either, but I would take the Cruze. The Focus design, for me, is too busy and the Cruze handles better, in my opinion. If he’s looking for a hatch, he’ll have to go with the Focus, since the Cruze (as you know) doesn’t come in the hatch in the States.
Is he looking for a stick or an auto? What’s the most he can spend? Is he looking to lease or finance?
