Two weeks after picking up the 3500HD Denali I received a recall notice. The recall notice says not to park inside due to potential fire hazard. I scheduled a service appointment on-line. First words from the service rep after I arrived at the dealer were “I do not have that part in stock and have to order it”. Never got a good answer why they scheduled the appointment knowing they did not have the part. Waited about a month for the part to be available. This dealer is 35 miles from home.

Two days ago I received text and email notices from OnStar to service emission system within 1 week. My scanner showed a P24BO particulate matter sensor circuit low code. I called the dealer that I purchased from and spoke to truck service. The rep said he would try ordering the particulate sensor so it would be there if it was bad. This dealer is 75 miles away. When I arrived yesterday he said GM would not permit him to preorder the part due to availability issues. His test showed the sensor has failed. Two 150 mile round trips to repair a part because of GM rules. The service rep said the diesel goes into limp in mode after about 120 miles, so GM left me stranded with a defective emission system. I was able to reset the pending and active codes with my scanner and the vehicle has not gone into limp in mode after 230 miles. Something others might want to try if the vehicle goes into limp in mode with emission issues. Only the vehicle can reset the permanent code.

Thinking I should have waited and purchased the RAM or the F350.
