So I test drove a 22 Ltz with the LM2 3.0L (500ish miles) and a 23 AT4 with the LZ0 3.0L (100ish miles), In both vehicles I noted a burning chemical type smell and It was pretty strong at stop lights and slow speed. I’m assuming this is probably normal for the diesels during break in and conditioning. Does anyone have any experience with it? The wife was not happy and made more than one comment that she hoped is isn’t normal. Hate to drop 70k on a truck in the next couple weeks only to have a nasty smell inside the cab.
I have a 22 refresh LTZ with the 3.0 and now have about 10K miles on it. I have never had any smell such as you mentioned. Not sure what it could be. Mine can idle in the garage and it is practically odorless and as for in the cab never anything at all. Perhaps they used some type of undercoat or sealant on the underside. I would ask. I would think it would soon be gone.
