Why does Chevrolet continue to advertise and sell product they do not have? When will the build and price feature/program for the 2024 Silverado 2500 HD be out, up and running?

Production starts in Feb 2023, with on the lot in June/July time frame. That is the latest that Chevy put out

production changeover to 2024 will take place on Feb 27th in Flint. There are some 24’s in the shipping lot right now that are masked off. There have been a couple of short runs of 24’s already, one was rumored to have happened this week. Earlier this week the shipping lot in Flint had a majority of white trucks, possibly trying to finish off fleet orders for 23’s

Anyone have an update on the Build and Price feature? Placed my order a month ago and still no pricing!

I just went through my order with my salesperson today. I have a full build list with all the pricing. If your salesperson tells you they dont have it yet I think youre being misled.

I have a 24 ordered as of last week. No time line and no price yet. I figured about 2-3k more than a 23.

Was this a 2024 that you ordered?

          Yes, a 2024

Your dealer has pricing, if they say they dont they are sandbagging you.

Thats pretty accurate. I think mine was about 2k more than the 23 I speced out. Some of the content packages are different though.

I had a 23 on order from back in Nov. Which was canceled by GM and had to be converted to a 24 due to the factory change over this month. My salesman rolled the 23 build into the a 24 order. I am hoping for 6 months, but it will be impacted by dealer allotments.

      I just ordered a 2024 a few days ago.
      A few things:

Pricing IS available but the dealer’s pricing tool can NOT show a final price (after all the options). It shows the base price and individual prices for all the options. The lady helping me order it, had to use a tabletop calculator to show me the total price.
Some options, even if they are listed in the tool, are not really available. But it’s not like they’re grayed out; at the end, when you want to finish the order, you’re not allowed to, you have to uncheck them and try again. And you don’t know which ones are unavailable, you have to guess. In my case, none of the blue colors were available.
Some (odd) colors are available in a separate category at the end (bunched up with weird options like 65mph governor and such). Green and yellow ARE available (go figure).
The order was accepted by GM but, according to the lady helping me, as long as the dealer doesn’t have an allocation yet, I can still go back and change it (it will not lose its “place in the line”) and maybe get the blue color I want. Maybe?
No one (in that dealership) knows when the production will start and, the moment it starts, no one knows how long until they’ll get an allocation. What’s somewhat definite is the 6-8 weeks between allocation/production start and delivery.

      I hope this helps

Full production 24’s start Feb 27th in Flint. There have already been at least 2 runs of 24MY saleable trucks (Flint) that will spend some time in validation before being shipped.
There is pricing available including MSRP. GM supplier and GMS. My order shows all 3.
When mine went into the system the only restriction was running boards/ work steps. None were tentatively available until 2nd quarter of this year so I just left them off, plenty of aftermarket choices anyways.
The colors that curiosul is referring to are special fleet colors (in the past they were restricted to multiple unit orders)
Since my dealer did not have any current allocation the order was accepted in the system as a “preliminary order” and given a number. I was told changes can be made until the order has allocation and has been final accepted.

2024 HD High Country’s are for sale at the dealer? I contacted someone I know that works at a dealer and he said they don’t have them to order yet. I’m confused.

Someone is misinformed. The 24 HD models can be ordered now. What they may have meant is that they dont have any allocations available yet. The dealer can take your order but until GM gives them an allocation and they assign it to your truck the order isnt accepted by GM.
I have a 24 LT ordered but my dealer wont have any allocations until later in March. My order wont move forward until that point.

What 64Bwagon just said. I have an order in and also waiting for the dealer to get allocations so the order can be accepted.

Once mine is allocated and accepted the dance starts on getting it built in Flint. Restrictions and parts availability will play a big role. I think Ft Wayne shutting down in late March will relieve some of the supplier pressure since many of the parts are interchangeable between LD and HD

I also understand that allocations havent been calculated just yet. I dont know the exact timeline but my understanding is that it hasnt been determined yet. Flint has capacity for over 1000 trucks per day and it would seem the line is already getting long for orders. I would guess that you wont see many (if any) dealer stock until late summer or fall.

I ordered one the first day but it has not been allocated yet. They only make about 15 sterling greys a week and my dealership has not received an allotment for a grey 1 ton yet. Kinda bs that chevy offer a color they don’t really have. No chrome rims and no running boards also.

With a state of the art, completely new paint system installed in Flint a couple years ago I cant see how a specific color could be limited to a build qty especially on an allocation. I know individual colors will be added and removed periodically. Dealers are notorious for making stuff up.

The running board issue is particular to dealer installed, does not affect factory install. My question is are all running boards installed at the dealership or do some get installed at the factory for the premium package like the High Country.

The order configure sheet that my dealer sent me shows the 2 power retractable boards as “W/A” in place of a price. I am not sure of the exact meaning but I would assume that means “when available” ? The others all have pricing without notations although I was told they are on restriction and the build configurator will reject the build spec if they are on there.
I realize that the majority (if not all) of the boards are dealer installed. I couldn’t say if any are factory installed although my guess would be the power retractable may be.
I do know that the logistics of getting the shipped loose items to the dealers has been a challenge for several years since they are sent to the dealer and not with the truck when it arrives. My 2021 was held up a couple of days waiting for the work boards and the Z71 floor mats and eventually the mats were swiped from another sale because they didnt have any arrival date for mine. From what I was told and could see the parts dept gets flooded with loose items and they arent big fans of them getting shipped separate. I didnt notice if any of the pre production “EX” VIN trucks had boards on them.

Ordered my 2024 Custom 6.6 Gas/Allison Feb 24, 2023. No special options except power fold mirrors. GM hasn’t accepted the order yet. Dealer estimated me 8-10 weeks from order to delivery so we will see.

My 2024 2500 HD LT crew cab long bed has been built and is supposed to be delivered on the 25th of March. Its sitting in the lot in Flint right now and was supposed to have shipped this past Saturday. Quality control is my guess for the delay.

    • #752528

I should also mention that my original order was for a 2023 work truck, I placed the order in September of 2022 that order was canceled due to the end of production of the 2023 model so my dealer rolled it over to a 2024 work truck they then canceled that order and sent me a copy of an email they received that said anything below an LT model; the work truck and Custom would still go to production but would be significantly delayed and may be canceled so I upgraded to the LT. I don’t know if it’s a money grab but the truck has been built so I’m ok with that. Also the only color choices I had at the time were red, white, or black.

I have a feeling that my LT Z71 Sport Edition will be delayed a couple months while they build “stock” trucks.

My dealer just got an allotment for my order, but it will require a color change. Blue is not available at this time so it will be black. Don’t want to wait for who knows how long it will be for the next allotment waiting for a color.

I just got word today that my 3500 has a constraint on the tri coat red paint and is unavailable to order. The truck still sits at the same status it was in mid February. I figured this might be an issue and I honestly didnt think I would get the truck until July. I am just going to sit it out and wait. There were a couple of other options on constraint but we didnt go into that since it didnt matter. There are still supplier shortages plaguing Flint and rumor has it that they are still having to “build short” occasionally due to that. They have supposedly built more than 24,000 trucks in 2024 so far.

Just placed order for 2024 2500HD ,paperwork said status 2000 does this mean Chevy has accepted the order ?

It means your order has been assigned an allocation by your dealer and GM has accepted it. The next step is for production to assign a build slot to it.

BTW, I went by Flint assy yesterday and the shipping lot is pretty empty. Looks like a lot of trucks are getting shipped right away.
