Hey folks, new here and to four wheeling. Recently got acquainted with Maine ‘Mud Season.’ I have a 3000# truck camper on the truck and buried the left rear up to hubcaps in a combo of mud and gravel on a fire road.
I was hoping that the better situation/traction of the other three tires would have rescued me in 4Lo. Unfortunately, the wheel wanting to spin was the one in the mud/gravel. Spinning it in this was grinding up the wheel and packing mud into braking calipers, etc. so, I was hesitant to spin. But, if I understand correctly, in order to lock the G80, I’ve got to spin it up to ~100 RPM to get it to lock.
So, I’m ultimately wondering if this is the right setup, and/or if I can swap the G80 for a selectable locker. My search for such after-market lockers is coming up empty.
Welcome your thoughts/recommendations.
Thanks!
