Hey all, first post here, although a long time lurker.
My 2022 Yukon XL Denali is on Order. I had consternation about whether I should get the 6.2 gasser or the 3.0 Duramax. Settled on the 6.2 Gasser, given I live in MN and my ride will get a lot of cold soaks for 8-9 hrs in the parking lot at work during the winter. So, in prep, have been looking for fueling stations which have 93 octane, as this is what I thought was recommended for this engine…
However, in researching further, I noted GM has changed the recommendation in the 2022 owners manual to 91 octane vs the 93 it was in the 2021 manual…Did GM change the tune on this motor? I know the compression ratio didn’t change…so what gives? This IS a bonus for me, because MN state minimum for premium is 91…93 is harder to find here.
I know, a LOT of you are going to doubt me, see the owner manual here and check out pages 263-264 –> https://www.gmc.com/bypass/pcf/gma-content-api/resources/sites/GMA/content/staging/MANUALS/5000/MA5562/en_US/1.0/22_GMC_Yukon_Yukon_XL_Denali_OM_en_US_U_84793870A_2021AUG09.pdf
For reference, here is the 2021 manual which recommends 93 Octane on page 277 –> https://www.gmc.com/bypass/pcf/gma-content-api/resources/sites/GMA/content/staging/MANUALS/5000/MA5118/en_US/5.0/21_GMC_Yukon_Yukon_XL_Denali_OM_en_US_U_84266976C_2021MAY19_3P_INS1.pdf
