Hi, curious what others are experiencing ordering the 22 refresh? I placed an order just about 4 weeks ago for a 22 refresh AT4 in titanium rush metallic. I reserved the truck in Oct. the dealer said the order has been submitted and I have an order#, but it has been sitting at 0500 going on four weeks. I was assured they had the allotment. When I ask the dealer they say GM is probably getting tons of orders which I’m sure is true. Starting to wonder if I should try another dealer if I’m getting jerked around or maybe there’s some constraints on my order? Where does everyone else stand with their orders?

I ordered my 2022 Refresh AT4 in Jan. I ordered the diesel in Onyx Black. I received a text from the dealer that they were not building any AT4s with the towing mirrors for the remainder of the 2022 season and asked if I would be ok with the standard mirrors. I said yes, and got an email starting that my truck order had been accepted by GM and was being put into the lineup to be built. I am still waiting on news that the refresh trucks are coming off the assembly line. I am hopeful and would love to have mine by mid April if not sooner.

Looking for any updates or other customers with 2022 Sierra refresh orders. I have one pending now which was delayed with the 5.3L V8 which I am told is on a restriction. I am in Canada… not sure if that engine restriction is only here.
Debating ordering with the 3.0 turbo duramax diesel instead but wondering on approx build/ship times in general.

I put in an order for a 2022 Sierra 1500 SLT with 6.2 and 10 speed in December 2021. The dealer told me yesterday it was scheduled to be built this week. This is a Hendrick dealer and I’m thinking they have a good chance of getting early builds. With the 2022 refresh builds coming in still missing some features like AFM, heated seats/steering wheel, I’m thinking about giving up that 2022 if it comes in missing anything, then ordering a 2023 instead.

I and others have asked in another thread here about GMs plans for retrofitting on the trucks delivered with missing features, but have not heard/read anything about that. My dealer has told me that many of these features will not be routinely in from the factory until later in the fall of 2022, which is when 2023’s will be the order de jour.

I put an order on 1/20/22 for a 2022 Sierra 1500 Denali with the 3.0. My salesman told that it was still in 1100 Preliminary Order accepted. It’s been sitting at 1100 for 4 weeks now. I got all the available packages like the carbon pro edition, technology package, but not the super Cruze i didn’t wanna wait longer. Fingers crossed i get a production date soon. Has anyone else gotten their MSRP for their truck yet?

I ordered a 5.3 denali with minimal extras. My order was accepted on 12/27 and production started on the 23rd or April. The GMC chat function indicates that my truck has been produced and shipment is the next step. Does anyone know how long this process should take from here? I have reached out to the dealership about it but haven’t heard back.

My 2022 Sierra 1500 SLT order was placed 12/15/2021, and it left production yesterday headed for shipping. Coming to Hendrick GMC in Richmond, VA from GM’s Silao plant, so I’m thinking a 4 – 6 week shipping window. Waiting for that feedback this morning.

I ordered a ’22 SLE crewcab 4×4 on feb 7 and I checked on the build status and got this this response from GM: Thank you for your patience, We have located your order bjqnw9 and can see that your order has been entered into the system and is waiting for acceptance into production. We recommend that you check back with us or your Dealership in 4 – 6 weeks. Im from Canada

I’m trying to order a ’22 Sierra 1500 Denali. Dealer finally got some allotment last week to submit my order, but I needed to drop the towing mirrors from my order. Since I tow, it’s not really an option. Initially the dealer said they were not going to build any trucks with towing mirrors this year. That would seem hard to believe. Right now, I’m in yet another holding pattern because the dealer feels something might change in about 3-week, end of March, and whatever issue there is with the towing mirrors might be cleared up. Did notice however that the GMC Build & Price site no longer allows you to build a truck with towing mirrors.

My 2022 Sierra SLT crew cab/short bed ordered 12/15/21 shows as ‘shipped’ in GM’s vehicle locator. Its coming from GM’s Sialo plant and is scheduled to arrive at my dealer (Hendrick GMC) in Richmond, VA 4/21/22. The dealer gave me an updated build sheet showing the VIN and all RPO’s just as I ordered it. There is no invoice on it in the system yet, and he is saying invoices are his trusted source to determine if something is not installed. I am suspecting heated steering wheel, and front/rear park sensors could be in the missing category.

lanebenton, since you have your VIN the specifics on a delivery date should be something your dealer can give you. Depending on what variant of Sliverado/Sierra you ordered… the Crew Cab / Short bed non-HD’s come from Sialo Mexico. I have a Sierra 1500 SLT Crew Cab / Short bed coming from that plant. I got my VIN on it last week and my dealer was able to tell me it was going to arrive April 21, 2022 @ 5:26 PM. (Hendrick GMC Richmond, VA ) He’d told me to expect 4 to 6 weeks from Mexico and that is what I’m seeing.

I have a reserve for a 2022 refreshed Denali. Went to the dealer a few weeks ago to place the order.
      5.3
      Tech package
      Storage package
      22 in Polished wheels
Dealer stated he could not get the Tech package to go through and wasn’t sure if it was available anymore this model year.
      FRUSTRATING!
I won’t take a Denali without the Tech Package

Components of the ‘old’ tech package (2021 builds) have been shuffled around a bit in 2022 configurations. My dealer was able to give me an RPO print out for my 2022 SLT order that allowed me to find the main component I wanted which was the UV2 Surround Vision, HD. I believe its part of the Safety Package add on with an SLT build ? The Heads Up display used to be part of the Tech Package but I did not pursue it further. I believe both of those may likely be a default part of your Denali package. Get your dealer to shoot you a copy of the order sheet from GM’s Order Workbench which will tell you more specifics about which RPOs are included with your exact order.

I ordered a fairly equipped Sierra SLT crew cab short box with a 6.2 on Feb !. The order was accepted in about two week. i received notice yesterday 3/23 that it was produced and was given the VIN. It was produced in Indiana. Don’t know anything about shipping. I hope they were joking at my dealer when they said anywhere between three weeks and Christmas.

Sometimes new colors are not built right away so that could delay. I search around several dealers in my area with 2022 refresh models in stock or transit and the are all either black or white, no other colors have I found. Check with Laura GMC, they have a lot of new trucks but all are black or white.

Looks like my Sierra 1500 Denali refresh is going to get ordered this week. I’m being told that the trailering mirrors are definitely out and that GMC is not going to build any 2022 Sierra 1500s with trailering mirrors this year. Hope someone else can confirm or refute that but I guess I’ll be going aftermarket on those. Also heard that there is a good to excellent chance that the real wheel liners will also be suspiciously missing as well. Apparently the facility which fabricates the inner wheel liners experienced a flooding event and the factory is shutdown for a minimum of 3-months. I’m told I should be getting heated steering wheel, heated and cooled seats, but no pedestrian braking (chip shortage). I hope the Tech package is not an obstacle

      – My Dealer made the order for my 2022 Sierra 1500 Denali Ultimate on Jan 20 2022
      – 3800 on 3-22-2022
      – 4000 on 3-25-2022

As of 4-9-2022 still no movement. Not sure how long this process takes to get my show piece to the dealership here in memphis, but it seems like this may take longer than I thought. The only message I can get from gmc.com live chat is:

“Your vehicle has been produced and is currently bayed in our distribution center in ROANOKE IN, no ETA yet. It is important to know that shipping arrangements will take place next and your selling dealership is the best source for additional details on that process. Event code is 4000.”

That “bayed” word has me worried. That could be the case for weeks or months, depending how many vehicals are awaiting transport, in which I have no Idea. I’ll give more updates as they change in the future.

      • 4B00, Bayed by the shipper (listed anytime a vehicle is sitting parked waiting for next mode of transportation.)

Where is the final destination? It may be waiting on a train.

Typically it can take 4wks +- to get to the dealer.

About 650 miles, likely go by truck. Truck Assembly plant is in Roanoke.

They don’t use first in – first out. A load will have to be built with vehicles before a truck is dispatched. Drivers are in short supply.

Z15… Well, one good thing I see on my dealers website is that they have 8 gmc vehicals listed as in transit to TN and one of them is mine. But like you said drivers are in short order. All I can do is hope for the best now.

A week later was given a TPW of 03/21. Car was finished being built last week and is at the port in Mexico waiting to be shipped. ETA I was given by dealership is 05/17 and I was given a VIN#

My refreshed 2022 AT4 was built the week of March 14 and last update I was able to get it said shipped with event code 4200. My dealer says it is scheduled to arrive April 20 but it doesn’t show on their website as in transit or on GMC website. I’m skeptical that it will actually arrive next but wasn’t sure if since it’s a pre sold truck, they may not put in on the websites of vehicles they have coming in. Anyone have any insight?

I had an original arrival date of April 13 for my 2022 Refreshed AT4. I was told Monday that it was in South Carolina and there was a delay and I could get it next Tuesday if I agreed to let someone drive it the 2 1/2 hours to Fayetteville. I told them that was ok if that was the only way to get it.

I got a call this morning that it was at the dealer!

I went and did all the paperwork today and will pick it up in the morning.

I got the AT4 Premier package and the Technology package. The only thing that isnt working now on mine is the heated steering wheel.

Flow GMC of Fayetteville was great to work with! They didnt charge anything over the sticker but a $699 dealer service fee. I am very happy with how things turned out!

You have better chances of picking winning lottery numbers than to know for sure when your vehicle will ship. When you combine the QC issues with geographical delivery of vehicles (they don’t use a first in first out methodology), this can be the most frustrating part of the whole new vehicle ordering process. There is no transparency to actual data. There is just generic codes and sometimes the whisper from “someone in the know”. Your vehicle may ship quickly, it may not. It will likely take longer the more rural you are and the lower the volume of cars your dealer sells.

      Just seen this yesterday;

      quote
“Union Pacific Railroad (UP) is reducing the number of active railcars in its systems in an effort to address mounting congestion and service-related issues in the rail networks. Shippers were asked to voluntarily reduce the number of railcars they ship and that reductions will be mandated if necessary. BNSF Railway is said to be taking similar action.”

I’m buying a 2022 “Refresh” AT4 Sierra 1500 from a dealership here in Houston. The VIN was available when I started working with the dealership on 4/15. Ended up putting a “pre-sale” contract on the truck – so as soon as the truck arrives, it’s mine.

Dealer is telling me they have no ETA at this time, but guessing 6 weeks. Could be more, could be less.

From searching the VIN online, I can see it was assembled in Silao, MX. Any idea how long it’s taking from time of VIN to actually showing up at the dealership?

Super excited and can’t wait to take delivery!

Just placed my order and deposit today in Houston,Tx.

      2022 “Refresh” 1500 AT4
      Dynamic Blue Metallic
      3.0 Diesel
      AT4 Premium Package
      Technology Package
      Sunroof

Shopped 3 dealers and fortunately 1 of them had just received 2 AT4X’s and an AT4. I was able to sit in them and check them out and the pics do not do the screen justice. The finish is amazing and just feels solid. The 3 colors were titanium rush, onyx black, cayenne red tincoat. The AT4x is luxurious, the suede roof is very nice and the additional speakers looked great. The black and white seats were very nice. 2 dealers were charging “market adjustments ” and “protection pro packages”. Finally settled and a 3rd that only charged tax, title, registration and a 399 dealer fee. I thought heck I’ll take $399 over $3000 market adjustment and 1,895 protection pro Package any day. Got my drive off price at $73,931. Price of the build was $68,715. Great experience with the final dealer and I can’t wait. Like most of you I am now at the very beginning stages of the process and feels great. Any other Dynamic blues out there in the forum?

GM must not be following a FIFO process. I’m seeing multiple trucks as “In-Transit” inventory with VIN numbers in greater sequential order than mine. However, mine is not appearing online at all. Should I be concerned?

Asked in the online chat and the answer was “The vehicle is Produced, waiting to be pick up by the carrier. There is no ETA as of yet. I recommend that you reach out to your dealership for further information on shipment, delivery, and timing. Our system does not indicate its current location or a delivery date so your dealership will be in the best position to provide further insight as they are typically notified 48 hours in advance of a delivery pending at their location.”

Wish there was a bit more clarity / transparency.

Ordered my Denali on March 21st and have had a order number with a status code of 1,100 for weeks. Today I received a call from my Dealer to let me know that I am on top of their allocation list and ready to officially release my order to build.

However, the following items on my order are not available for next weeks production:
      – DRZ, Rear Camera Mirror
      – KSG, Adaptive Cuise Control
      – UV6, 15″ Multicolor Heads Up Display
      – UGN, Enhanced Automatic Emergency Braking
      – PEC, Denali Reserve Package

Since these items are critical to me I’ve opted to wait for these to come available.

Holy crap KMiller500, you might as well buy a stripped down custom!! Are they going to paint it or just primer? I thought it was bad when I ordered my LTZ and it was built with no seat blowers and unoperative front and rear park assist. Both are to be retrofitted in time. How many of the items you listed are they claiming to be a later retro?

I received my 2022 refresh AT4 on April 14. I love everything about the truck except that my adaptive cruise control and lane change assist stopped working after 300 miles. They dumped the software and reloaded it, and that fixed it for another few hundred miles, then it happened again. Took it back to the dealer, and after having it 2 days, they say they need to replace the front camera. They told me that the part number wouldnt even be out till May 13 and after that they could find out when parts would be available. My auto stop also works sporadically. I sure hope I dont continue to have problems.
The screen looks much bigger in person than in pictures. I got it in Black Onyx with the 3.0 Duramax and all the technology and convenience features except the sun roof. I also got the standard sized bed.
I am most impressed with the gas mileage. I get better than the advertized 22 town, 26 highway mileage. I usually get 25 around town (with auto stop working) and I got 28.5 this weekend driving 70-75 on the highway.
I also have an 18ft bass boat and I get 19-20.5 pulling that to the lake.
Mine also came with all the features working except the heated steering wheel. I really hope they fix the cruise festure and I dont have a truck full of gremlins!

      Currently awaiting shipment
Got my VIN and printout of all the options included during the build. Was surprised to see that I got all the options that I ordered with no pending retrofits. That’s a relief. Currently sitting in Silao, Mexico awaiting transport. I’ve been following all the threads concerning these orders so I know I still have a bit of a wait before delivery.

Dealership put my order in on Jan. 20 2022 for the refresh Sierra 1500 Denali Ultimate.
      – 3800 on 3-22-2022
      – 4000 on 3-25-2022
      – 5000 Vehicle Delivered to Dealer on May 31

Did a test drive on May 31 and got preapproval letter today June 1 from my bank. Dealership said my Denali should be available for pickup on June 3.

Took drive on highway during my test drive and that V8 engine runs like a dream, I barley tapped the gas peddle and was doing 83 mph.
All of the features and options will take some time to learn them all. The dealership here in Memphis sold me the vehicle fully loaded at MSRP of $84,600 + tax, tag, and registration with no up charge which puts me right at about $93K and YES it’s worth every penny.

The wait was excruciating but well worth it. I almost bailed a few times to buy something else but I waited and I’m happy I did… My dealer had NO clue the vehicle was on it’s way for delivery on May 31. They kept telling me the truck was in Indiana, then low and behold from the abyss delivery day arrives, so keep the faith guys they are delivering these vehicles slowly but surely. Maybe I’ll post some pics when I pickup the truck on Friday June 3rd. Good luck everyone with your deliveries, they are coming…..

Picked up 2022 Sierra 1500 Denali Ultimate yesterday Jan 3. All went well with the financing and pickup. They still have to retro fit chip that is on back order, front and rear parking assist is not working cause of chip. This truck has so many driving safety features it’s hard to keep up with. The one I like most is when changing lanes if you don’t hit your blinker the steering wheel pulls the truck back to your current lane. I love that because the safety mechanism assumes you’re drifting into the other lanes so it reacts and pulls you back to safety lane.

I have photos but can’t figure out how to post them. If admin could help me I’d be thankful.

Thanks blue56bird! I could not be happier with my purchase of 2022 Denali Ultimate. Took longtime to get here but worth the wait. I added a 3 fold bed cover and the owner of the business told me he’d buy my truck whenever I was ready to sell it down the line. I told him I’d give him first dibbs.

For those who are frustrated with the process, hang in there. If your told GMC will not produce any more 2022 vehicles then regroup save little more money then put your orders in for the 2023 model early November or December and you’ll get it by June 2023 like I did. This was my strategy in December 2021. My dealer got 2 allocations for Denali Ultimate in Jan 2022 but I already had put in the request with my dealer in December 2021, so my dealership called me when they got the allocation on Jan 3 2022 and we went over what features I wanted that day and he submitted to GMC to have my vehical built the rest is history and my truck arrived at my dealer May 31 and they had no clue the truck was in route, no heads up it was coming. Transport company is doing a horrible job communicating to dealerships…

I guess the moral of my story is the early bird gets the worm. So if your just puting in your order in March, Arpril, May of 2022 then your more likely to miss that boat ride till they start building your model again the next go around…. Best of luck and be strategic in your approach.

Reserved my Denali in the middle of March and my Dealer contacted me last week and said that GMC had accepted my order and that my truck would be built the first week in July. Today, I received an email from GMC stating that my order had been accepted and that I would receive periodic emails on the status on the production through delivery.

Looks likes GMC may be shortening their production times. I really didn’t expect to receive my truck until August/September timeframe,

Similar to KMiller. Placed order Mar 1st week, just got TPW that starts today. Gave up some features but received a rebate. GM much more responsive once your order has been officially accepted which also mean all your parts are available or will be delivered in plenty of time for production. Hope this helps.

Don’t bank on gm for accuracy in their reports. Mine was to go to production week of 4/11, then 4/25, then got built first week of May. To this day I am told it is awaiting transportation, and or in transit and to check with dealer. I am actually picking it up this afternoon! From allocation to build was about six weeks and from build to dealer another six weeks. My LTX was built in Ft. Wayne not Mexico so things might have been a little different if it had to go through customs. It came by train from Roanoke IN to Selkirk NY. Then dealer trucked it from there. Bottom line is advisors are very different from one to another. You might get one this time that pretends to get accurate information however outdated or inaccurate, then you will get an advisor who will tell you anything to move the line along and get rid of you, especially if you start asking for codes and asking why the codes sometimes go backwards from the week before. As for the emails, for the past four weeks I can show you how they are carbon copy from week to week and this morning I received the latest saying truck was in transit, remember I am picking it up this afternoon.

I ordered a 2022 refresh – AT4 with the 3.0l Duramax and was told the truck was completed with VIN assigned on 4/11. Dealer had me come in once the VIN number was assigned and sign the contract shortly after. I was told at the time it would take between 3-6 weeks for the truck to be delivered.

Obviously well past the 3-6 week mark now and can’t seem to get any updates. All I am told is “Pending Dispatch”. Apparently the truck as sat at the factory for 2+ months waiting to be shipped? I’m told my truck is assigned to a logistics company but no ETA at this point.

My refresh 2022 Sierra 1500 Denali was built May 20th. It left Mexico last week on a ship heading up the west coast destined to Portland, OR. If any of you living near the west coast are waiting for a truck built in Mexico during the month of May, there’s a good chance it’s on this ship. I don’t have an ETA to Portland but it’s stopping today in San Diego to offload some of it’s cargo. Good luck to all that are getting tired of waiting.

That’s true Joeior. They announced a few weeks ago that they were temporarily halting production on the Duramax and 6.2L V8s. If you have the chance to lock in an allocation for a 2023 right now, I would jump on it. Getting allocations over the last few months has been a major issue. They are not starting any more 2022 models. Best of luck on your AT4 order.

Talked with my dealer yesterday. He reports this week is the last week to submit orders for 2022. Also many constraints along with zero 3.0’s and 6.2’s for any GM’s. He also said any 1500’s he has on order that have been built are on hold for micro processors. Not sure when they will ever be released and shipped. This along with substantial price increase coming with the 23’s. Sorry for all the sour information but you might better know the whole story rather than what some dealers are dishing out leading customers to believe they can get an order in or take a down payment on something that will never happen. Likely any 23 will not hit the lots until fourth quarter.

Ordered my sierra SLT feb 11. Order accepted approximately April 6. Truck scheduled to be built Week of May 9.
I have called and emailed my dealer over and over asking for updates. The only correspondence I’ve gotten was when I go into the GMC chat and ask for a live person. They are who gave me the above dates. Dealer wouldn’t even return my calls
Chatted with them and learned truck was built and sitting in mexico as of the last week of May. (May 24th)
Dealer still wont respond to calls or emails.
Finally called the GM at the dealer and bypassed the sales people. he told me the truck was scheduled to arrive some time 3rd week of July.
I have asked for the invoice or window sticker 3-4 times. once again- they wont respond.

I am “with” the above sentiments, this has gone from a fun and exciting (anticipating) event to one of dread and trying to decide if I even want the truck now.
So I am paying full price for a truck that will be missing several features, and am being treated like crap by the very dealer I am giving $65,000 to. Not sure why I am doing this?

Just saw news GM is sitting on 95,000 incomplete units. That’s going to take a while to get shipped or finished. I did secure a rental truck for my vacation, going to do some Kyaking. I rented a Ford from a ford dealer. Irony I wonder if I ordered an F-150 at the same time which truck would arrive first.. So if these trucks are waiting for chips what does it take to install them? Are folks in the factory leaning over fenders? Are the vehicles protected? Will the computers be open and closed multiple times, what will be the long term effect of messing with installing chips later.

@Maxepr; just got word from my dealer that my Sierra Denali has been built (Ordered in March) and is sitting in “quality control” awaiting chips. There is no ETA on when this will occur so at the mercy of GMC once again.

They could really up their PR with their customer if they would provide a portal or provide meaningful email updates on the progress of an order.

I also read the article regarding GM having 95,000 vehicle that are waiting for chips. Would like to know where my order fits on the list; most likely at the bottom.

It’s pretty sad this is happening and if you refuse you order someone will walk up and take advantage of your situation and buy what you ordered. Any idea what chips these are waiting for? Mine had been sitting in OH since 5/30. I’m assuming they must be for an important safety feature or they would just retro fit them later. This whole process has been beyond frustrating.

I’m in the same situation as several of you, especially the ones in the last few replies. I have a Sierra Crew Denali with the 5.3L, Tech Package, moonroof. I had submitted my order to my dealer in late March. They couldn’t submit my order to GM until June due to their allowed allocation (there was a few people ahead of me) and the fact GM wasn’t accepting orders with the tech package. My order was “completed” two weeks ago, but is waiting on parts, which I assume is microchips.
My dealer has no idea how long it will be sitting there. Could be a couple of weeks or could take a few or several months, no one knows. I was told mine was the last 2022 they could order.
As another person stated earlier, I could get all mad about it and tell them to just forget it and wait and order a 2023 if/when they are available. If I or others who are waiting for their truck do that, someone else will just walk up and buy it without waiting one day for it. Something else to consider, the 2023 will have a significant price increase, and until they can get caught up on microchips, you will still be in the same boat and will be waiting a long time to get it.
I am hoping that GM will offer somewhat of a model clearance rebate for the remaining 2022’s. Keep in mind, there are reported 40,000 2022 model trucks waiting on parts sitting somewhere. They will need to get rid of these. That’s why I’m thinking and hoping there will be a rebate.
My gut tells me my truck will arrive mid to late September.

That’s the issue, no matter how frustrated you get you’ll just be doing someone else a favor. As of today my truck is still sitting in OH since the last week of May. I do have concerns going forward about issues from them sitting for so long, mainly paint. I’d be shocked if we see these before Sept. it is infuriating though watching GM put out these pictures of the AT4 AEV when they can’t even produce what’s been ordered properly. My guess is anyone who orders one of those will face just as many constraints as the Ultimate if not more.

Been watching this forum since placing my order in Feb. Finally received a VIN from my dealer in mid-June. Used a VIN “decoder” (https://vpic.nhtsa.dot.gov/decoder/) to discover my truck is sitting in Ft Wayne, IN…in the lot along with God knows how many other trucks awaiting transportation (and most likely microchips). The good news for me, judging from the info derived from the VIN decoder, is that it seems everything I ordered (including the 6.2L) is part of the build. Like the rest of you, I’m looking forward to finally taking receipt…whenever that may be. I have a “locked-in” MSRP from a reputable dealer in NW FL and am not about to give up at this point. Will keep everyone posted on the progress of delivery.

Hi to all, new to the forum but was lucky enough to take possession of my 2022 GMC AT4 yesterday evening from the dealer. I wanted to share my order and my experience related to GM Price Protection for those interested.

Truck details: 2022 GMC AT4 6.2L Carbon Pro, Onyx Black
Dealer located in Kansas City MO

      Order timeline:
Order placed on Feb 25th 2022 (my truck was 1 of 5 allocated to my dealer at the time)
Order selected for production May 5th 2022
Truck scheduled for production June 22nd 2022
GM sent an email truck was in transit July 12th 2022
Truck arrived at the dealer on July 14th 2022

GM Price Protection: When I arrived at the dealer they tried to sell me the truck at the sticker MSRP of $72,550 when I placed the order the build was $69,300. In Feb when the order was placed we agreed to the $69,300 + dealer admin fee ~$500.

The dealer first tried to sell me the truck at $72,550 and I explained that GM has price protection for orders marked as sold per the April 2022 bulletin to dealers. They claimed it was not eligible, however I already knew that it was because my truck was ordered and marked sold in February.

After the dealer realized I knew what I was talking about they agreed to the honor the price protection. Basically the dealer needs to show the order number marked sold is the same order number on the truck delivered to the said customer. Then the dealer fills out the GM paperwork and submits it to GM for the refund to them in 7-14 days. At the end the MSPR price was reduced to $69,300 + admin fee.

Hope this helps some of you in the future.

Thanks for the GM Price Guarantee heads-up / information! I repeated your approach, my results were the similar. I paid the 10-29-21 MSRP and NOT the 10-7-22 a saving of (round numbers) 4K.

I’m getting conflicting info from dealership and GM chat. My at4 was built on June 22. Last week my dealership told me it’s on MP hold (which they explained it’s waiting for chips). But I went onto GM chat and they told me it was shipped and in event code 4200. I asked my dealership about this and again said it was on MP hold. I checked again this week with chat and still at 4200. So I’m not sure which to believe. Anyone have this happen?

Ordered a Sierra Elevation on April 26th. Target production week was week of May 30th. Actual build date was June 9th. Ever since then it has been stuck in intermediate delivery waiting chips which I have been told from dealer and GMC live agent. From what I can tell it’s waiting chips for heated seats and heated wheel.

Fish head, ditto. You saved me $4000. My truck just arrived (July 16th). With a $4000 higher sticker. I mentioned…. “ I sure am glad GM offered that price protection locking me in”. Dealer replied- yeah, just bring your build sheet when you purchased it and that will be price.
      Thank you for your info.

To those waiting…. Ordered feb11. Accepted around March 15. Build week was May 9th. It was complete and sitting in Silao MX, May 25. Put on a rail car around June 17. Told me it was expected in around July 19. It arrived July 16. I’m picking it up tomorrow July 19.

I’ve been totally disgusted with this ordering process. My current GMC AT4 (19) lease is set to expire at the end of July. I ordered my refresh in Feb 2022, for a 22 AT4, and its been in the “queue” ever since. I have been strung along waiting for my “allocation” to come up.. with nothing but lies from my dealer. When you ask.. its “in the system”.. when you contact GMC.. its “with the dealership”. This back and forward bs has been going on for 4 months and I still don’t even have a build date due to engine constraints and “truck” constraints. When it does go to build, I’ve already been told some options will not be possible. My 22 just got cancelled and converted into a 23.. with a $6k price increase.. just cos.. and I still have nothing to show for my half year wait. I pushed the boat out with options on the build and have been totally burnt for it.

In the mean time while I now wait for my 77k vehicle, GMC is proudly promoting new versions of the AT4 (EAV), promotion media everywhere about the new 2023 vehicles and commercials as normal.. ignoring the insane amount of back orders and vehicles that cant be delivered due to missing parts. How can this be quiet? How can this be allowed to occur? Why isn’t this HUGE issue all over the news? Customer service.. 0. Communication.. 0.

I was in the same situation just over a year ago, lease set to expire in July of 2021 and had a truck ordered since March 2021. Needless to say I never got a new truck until about five weeks ago, in June 2022. Since the residual was over $7000 less than the trucks value at that time I simply sold that truck back to the dealer for the extra and bought a used daily driver until 11 months later received my new truck and traded that in on it. I waited a total of 15 months for this truck, first ordered in March 21 and when that never got allocated I reordered an early refreshed in December 2021. When an allocation finally came in for that the tech package was on constraint in the High Country but was available in the LTZ. I went ahead and built the LTZ up to what the HC would have came with and more with only exception the HC Badges. That truck was picked up by GM right away but still didn’t get built until first week of May. I was fortunate it was built in Ft. Wayne and only constraint is the front and rear park assist. I have put about 4000 miles on it so far and am averaging just over 30 MPG. Not bad for a 4X4 crew cab with regular box. Love the combination the 3.0 and 10 speed trans. So smooth and lots of torque. Good luck with yours and hang in there. I would certainly be looking for another dealer that would treat you right. I am very fortunate my dealer is a straight shooter to the point when I ordered the first truck in March of 2021 GM had $4000 rebates on them and the day I took delivery he actually discounted the price by that much since he felt it was the right thing to do. I also got the price from the order sheet, none of this bs some are pulling now.

Just go an update from my dealer in Texas. GMC Denali has been built and is sitting in Mexico waiting for Chips/Quality Control. They also said that GM would provide no further updates until the vehicle actually ships. So I guess that I am even further in the dark. GM seriously needs to do a better job at keeping its customers informed.

I agree with @WishFulAT4, GM shouldn’t be so eager to advertise their 2023 models until they can complete the orders for their 2022 line

Finally took delivery of my 2022 refresh Sierra 1500 Denali ordered Dec 16th and built May 20th. Picked it up Friday from the dealership and I couldn’t be happier. Shout out to Carr GMC in Vancouver, WA for sticking to the deal and being such an awesome organization. So glad I was patient and waited for this truck. It is awesome. Hang in there people, there is light at the end of the tunnel.

I went into the dealer mid January to build my new Sierra SLT with 6.2. At the time I had assumed that my truck would then be ordered, but that was me not being aware of how the dumb allocations that GM does. On March 28th my salesman contacted me stating that they discontinued the trailering mirrors which I wanted for the remainder of 22 (although you could still get them in a Silverado). He asked if I wanted to wait for 23 but no guarantees Id be able to get it then even so I told him to just go with the 22 without the mirrors.
Then I hear about GM stopping 6.2 for the remainder of 22 and I decided if it meant I could get my truck sooner I would switch to the 3.0 Duramax. Emailed the salesman and he called me 5 minutes later. He said I have news on your truck. I said oh you saw my email. He said your truck is built.
I went into the dealer 2 weeks ago since my wife’s vehicle was getting serviced and while waiting I asked my salesman if he could look up when it was built. Turns out it was built April 14th! They are unable to locate where specifically it is since since no invoice has been generated yet.
Getting nervous because my son who works at the dealership said that just last week they got a truck in that was built last AUGUST!

So very disappointed on GM. The way they are handling the whole situation is not clear, right nor professional. Seems like they do not have an idea of what is happening. While taking advantage on suspending production and come back with $6K higher price.

I couldn’t agree more with WishfulAt4 about why are they pushing so much advertising if they can’t keep up with production and delivering? they are just getting people upset about the whole GM brand.

I would like to know if anyone has brought his truck for retrofit? If so how is the truck working? Getting an electrical board and welding a chip on it is mostly done by robots. Wondering how much can we trust the retrofit? should I go without parking sensors or have them retrofit?

      Thanks

Posting an update to my experience here:

      Location: Houston, TX

Early April 2022, started shopping for a refreshed Sierra 1500 AT4. One of the dealership here had a truck that had just been produced and VIN number assigned – so I signed a contract on it and was told the truck was marked as “Pre-Sold”. I was told at the time it could take between 3-6 weeks to get it here from Silao, MX.

Late May, the truck still wasn’t here and the only update we could get was that the truck was still “Pending Dispatch” without any hint as to when it would actually ship.

I ended up LinkedIn stalking GM executives and messaging them explaining my situation and asked if they could point me in the right direction to someone who could figure out why the truck was sitting at the factory for so long. It actually worked!! Someone reached out to me with updates and added my truck to a priority list to get it moved.

The truck left the MX plant in early July and took roughly 2 weeks being shipped by Rail Car to make it from Silao up to Houston. Once in Houston, it took another couple of days to be unloaded and actually arrive to the dealership.

I picked it up last night and had no issues whatsoever. The dealership honored my deal, kept my trade value and went smooth as butter.

It was a very frustrating process but totally worth the wait!!

22 Jul 2022 – order built, awaiting shipping
      ?? ??? 2022/2023 – delivered

Hoping it shows up in the next 30-45 days (based on previous recent comments say), but prepared for it to be a Christmas present!

I’ll update post when/if it shows up…fingers crossed! Been painful waiting (very poor comms from GMC) especially since I’m in this process because my car was stolen in Jan 2022.

Was also told that the dealership would honor the “Family First” program discount, will update how that goes as well.

Good luck with that, I ordered a Denali in November. It was built in Early May and is sunning itself in Mexico with a Vin number. God only knows when it will show up. Thank you, my local Ford dealer who rented me a F150 for the week for Vacation .” Buy a GMC rent a Ford” Great truck by the way. I did buy a 2022 Cadillac XT5 in March due to an accident and now I am worried if something went wrong with it that GM would have the parts to fix it. Good luck to YA’all too.

Kudos to anyone who can joke about their order experience and not be angry about it. I think this has been a disgusting process from start to finish.. and I’m not even at the finish! I was finally told last week that I have a “production date of September 5th” from my dealership, on my 1500 AT4 that was ordered in February. I took that to GMC, and was told my “order has been submitted but still has not been accepted” Same as I was told since February. Nothing but lies and terrible communication.

IF the truck is built in September, I am under no illusions it will be missing options, will take additional months to complete with parts and delivery and it has already increased by $6k, I am sure it will be a lot more if it ever arrives at my dealership.. by.. January 23?

I’m going to keep my 19 AT4 and just move on.

I went online today and chatted with a rep, All it was was a happy canned response we are sorry Blah blah blah, lots of thing wrong but then wrote to the delivery response team , lol same canned response, GM can’t deliver, left them a name email and phone and they assigned me a claim number, Ha a claim number and I don’t even have a truck yet. What a wild ride, I’m thinking it will be a leftover when I get it. The sales manager did say I should order a 24 maybe I’ll get one in the same model year, he might be right based on the Follow up from GM. Till then I’ll rent a truck if i need one.

The chat experience is nothing but a joke. I went through this while I waited 15 months for my new truck. During that time I was told something different and contradicting from week to week via the “live advisor”. This is the craziest and most proof the chat is all bogus, I took delivery of my truck on the 14th of June and since them every week like clockwork on Tuesday I get an email from them telling me the exact same canned message, Here is the exact words.
Here is the current status for your order:

Your vehicle has been produced, waiting to be shipped, no ETA yet. It is important to know that shipping arrangements will take place next and your selling dealership is the best source for additional details on that process.

I will send you another update next Tuesday.

If you would like to check on your vehicle order status before then, please feel free to chat from http://www.chevrolet.com.
For faster service, please reference your case number 0000000000 or your order number .

Thank you for Chevrolet choosing for your new vehicle!

Placed an order for a 2022 refresh with a 3.0 4X4 on Dec 9, 2021. The order was accepted in March and the truck was built during the week of June 17 in Mexico. Been getting emails saying “pending shipping with no ETA” and the online chat said the truck had been shipped. The dealership told me in the beginning of July that no trucks will be moving for a “month or two” as everything is waiting for chips.

I agree with everyone that this whole process as been slow and no communication. Does anyone know how long it takes for the trucks to make it into the US once shipped? I’m hoping for August then before Christmas.

I contacted GM through their pop-up advisor and got my issue elevated. I gave them my name and number email and order code. You know what I’m getting??? I’m getting ads for trucks, that’s’ what I am getting. The first one was ” Make the Best of you summer Vacation” I kid you not. I ordered the truck in November last year. It’s sitting in Mexico; I rented a Ford truck for a weeks’ worth of summer vacation. I am wondering if the AD meant Summer of 2023?? Good luck with getting one, August to December is a good shot. I just talked to a guy who got his 95K 2500 last week, He ordered his in January. He had to sign a form not to sue GM. It was missing a lot of chips. It basically runs and the windows open. There was a new email in my box this morning about GM trucks. Imagine if we all did our jobs the way GM is following up on this. Are you sure your truck was shipped?

I am fairly certain the truck has not shipped and the online chat was just saying something that would make the situation sound better. In regards to the guy signing a form that he would not sue GM… I wonder if it was over the chips and the unknown ETA of when the “retrofit” would take place. I am okay with waiting for chips as long as the truck drives, tows, and the AC/Heat work until the “retrofit”. I don’t like the idea of vehicles sitting out in the elements waiting to be shipped.

My experience has been pretty much the same as a lot of people on this forum. Ordered a Sierra 1500 AT4 on Feb. 11th and the order was accepted by GM in mid March. Truck was built the week of June 14th and has been sitting in Indiana ever since under a missing parts status. I was told by my dealer that my truck was ready for immediate shipment the last week of June and an advisor from GM told me my truck was in transit to the dealer second week of July. None of this information was accurate. The truck hasn’t moved and communication from GM is a joke. I will probably give up on the order in the next week or so and go buy another Ram off the lot. Love the AT4 with the Duramax, but being without a truck for the last month and a half has caused me to reach the end of my patience.

I too am getting tempted to look elsewhere.

4/4 reserved and placed order with dealer
      5/5 order accepted by GM
      6/20 targeted production week
7/5 notified that truck was built and waiting for shipping
7/25 spoke with dealer since GMC chat was unable to provide any info. Dealer says “truck is built missing parts sitting in Ohio somewhere”

So I have no idea if/when the truck might show up.

2022 refresh Sierra 1500, CrewCab shortbed, 3.0 Duramax, x31, SLT premium plus pkg, sunroof.

Dealer shows an in transit Denali with the 3.0 Duramax if its not already spoken for I may just go that route. I don’t see supply chain issues getting better anytime soon.

If you are going to post about your good fortune maybe you can share some pricing intel so those less fortunate can attempt to negotiate a better price given the long wait times many have to endure in order to be afforded the privilege of paying sticker or sticker plus a dealer mark up.

I put in my order in February and I still don’t have an estimated delivery date. It’s been built but awaiting chips. There’s no telling how long it’s going to sit there. They quit taking orders on 2022’s over a month ago. They won’t start shipping out 2023’s until early 2023. By the time my truck finally shows up, it will be a year old truck. GMC better be some sort of significant concession or rebates to those of us who have waited this long and not expect us to pay the same price.
I won’t make a final decision to accept the truck until it arrives or see what offers/rebates will be, if any, will be offered. I definitely don’t like the sound of buying a brand new truck that’s a year old.
I completely understand that there’s a lot of moving pieces and blame to go around with all of this mess with ALL automobile manufacturers, but the customers, especially those customers who put in custom orders, shouldn’t be crapped on. The answer definitely shouldn’t be paying full price on a vehicle that was ordered early in the year PLUS be without safety features like front and rear park assist AND not have a true definite date on when the retro fit parts will arrive. Paying a premium price for a vehicle with expensive features and options that aren’t going to work and be told, don’t call us, we will call you, is beyond ridiculous. I haven’t even read one bit of evidence that the chips are even starting to catch up with production. That means, it won’t be anytime soon on when to expect to even think about waiting in another long line to get the retrofit completed.
How long should people be expected to wait on the retrofits?? 1 year? 2 years? 3 years?
GM and other auto manufacturers need to step up and be more transparent and make this right.

Im still waiting for rear seat heater chips for 2022 XT5 purchased in March 2nd. No email no follow up nothing just a recall letter after first payment that said when available. Again today I reached out to GM about my Denali order in November, built early may. Nothing at all, they said they emailed me in July after I contacted them. I saw no email. I have been inundated by GM advertising in my email account since I first reached out to them and filed a Claim. Every other day is a GM credit card email and Have a great summer in a new GM vehicle ad.I did google Earth the Mexico plant and saw quite a few trucks there. I kind of zeroed in on my crew, standard bed, sunroof truck with bedliner and red. There was a bunch but I do not know which is my truck. The people you call know nothing, 866-790-5600 is the first number. They tried to contact the next person up on the food chain today but there was no answer. Sad state GM is in on customer service, It just makes me sick.

I am in the minority – I had a pretty seamless experience (I did not reserve one earlier):

      4/28 – Ordered 2022 GMC Denali w/Denali Reserve Package in White Frost Tri-coat & Brownstone interior; 6.2L V-8
      5/9 – Changed order to 5.3L V-8
6/10 – Order accepted by production with TPW of July 11th (email from GMC and dealer)
6/27 – Order scheduled for production (email from GMC)
7/18 – Notified that truck was built and received VIN number and given estimated delivery of 8/15 (email from GMC and dealer)
8/2 – Notified that the truck was at distribution center (email from GMC and dealer)
8/6 – Truck arrived at dealer (call from dealer)
      8/9 – Picked up truck

Came equipped with everything except parking assist retrofit needed (no steering column lock or dynamic fuel management and no retro on those)

      Produced in Mexico

When dealer called me to let me know it arrived, price was higher on sticker than my build sheet price. I mentioned that I was told I had price protection as long as it came in as a 2022. Dealer agreed and the price was adjusted on my final paperwork to original price. Received Supplier Discount plus my GM Rewards and GM Extended Family points on credit card. I am pleased. I had (8) F150’s previously. I couldn’t get a platinum with a V-8 anymore so decided to give GMC a try as I have other GM products in my household.
Cabin is very quiet. Interior is very nice…..Infotainment a bit much to take in initially, but I am sure will improve with familiarity.
Dealer pointed out slight ding on chrome grille and said one was already ordered and would be replacing entire grille (I thought it was a drop of water).
Short answer after just picking up this morning (Western PA) – worth the wait, very nice truck. Hope this helps.

How do I get GM to email me on updates? The only way I’ve been getting updates is from chat and sometimes they are not that knowledgeable.

When I called the first time I gave them my email address and she said they would email me updates but I have yet to see anything even though I was at 3800, no ETA two days ago.

Try calling 8667905600, I talked to a rep, she said she was a GM employee. This was the second time I called them with my case number. They have not emailed me back at all. Don’t expect anything from them.. Good luck, It’s been 2days since they promised me someone would call me.

My order went in the day the dealerships were allowed to submit orders.

AT4 Diesel, Technology Package, Safety Package, everything except a sunroof and carbon pro.

It shipped without the towing mirrors, PArking guidance sensors, and heated and vented seats which will be retrofitted later.

I got it in my possession in early July and knowing what it’s like in the supply chain world, missing some of the options and having to get them installed later isn’t the end of the world. It’s a great truck and IMO, close to perfect. it should have been nice if GM took a page out of BMW’s book and allowed the use of phone data instead of having to get a connected device plan for the Google built-in. At the very least give us the option for one or the other. My only other wish would be that when you have the trailer camera plugged in, it would have made a lot of sense for the HD rearview mirror to allow you to switch to that camera view. Both of these seem like they could be easy software updates they could look to apply to the vehicles.

Forget about chevy chat or chevy emails being of any use whatsoever. While waiting for my truck I got so many conflicting stories from them it became humorous. One of the best ones was when they told me my truck was built in Flint, MI. Knowing only HD’s are built there and mine is a 1500 I knew then and there they were full of BS. Then the icing on the cake was after I took delivery of truck on the 14th of June, I continued to get their canned emails for no less than 6 weeks more, every Tuesday. Same canned message, “your truck has been built and is awaiting transportation, we have no further information, and your dealer is your best source going forward”

@pmanches54 it took 6 weeks for my truck to ship after it was built. That part was definitely the hardest… knowing it was built but not shipped yet.

I have to say this experience of buying a Truck from GM has been the most difficult process in my lifetime.
I’ve gone from a 21 to 22 and currently at 1100 on a 23 Silverado Trail Boss 6.2 ..Dealer says no alocations..
      Too many constraints..!
Things wouldn’t be so bad if i had a Truck but i sold it in January with anticipation of a new Chevy…lol Yep laughs on me..
And your right about the customer service.. There Is absolutely NONE!
I’ve written Emails to everyone i could Never heard back from anyone…lol
Yep from the top down…lol Yep laughs on me !
Well i know some of you got your Truck. Congrats!
And some of you didn’t…Sorry about your luck…!

I called GM three times and spoke to people who worked from home. Every time they put me on hold it took 5-10 minutes too answer back. They all promised me a call back within 24 hrs. I have not received not one call back. I reached out twice to my dealer about a rep to call me. Nothing, not one call. Friday I learned that I could possibly get my truck in October, no timeframe in the month.

Right now I am disappointed on how I have been treated by GM, I wonder what kind of critters are living in the truck. I wonders if mice are getting to the wiring or what sun damage has been done to the paint sitting in the same spot for so long. I was going to order a 23 but yesterday I went out and looked at other trucks because I’d be settling on the color. I’m going to go with a Ford f150 Hybrid. I figured by the time GM got around to delivering a 23 made the way I want it , I’d be in the same boat. I’ll give this till October 31 and then go Order a F150. I do have the paper work for the 23 and there is a 3 year charge for on star yes there is a code. We have a 22XT5 we purchased in March and have never used it, I heard a rumor that it is a 1500 charge. I wonder if that is to make up for cars they couldn’t deliver this year, well anyway I’ll give it to October, Damn shame GM doesn’t notice.

just got my GM customer care update today, my first one. It states Here is the current status for your 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 order:

As of June 16th the vehicle is in Quality Inspection due to the microchip shortage and the vehicle has no eta at this time.

I will send you another update next Monday August 22nd.

If you would like to check on your vehicle order status before then, please feel free to chat from http://www.GMC.com, or you may contact me directly at my phone number listed below.

Oh man GM is up to date, That was the Truck status in June, It’s what?? August… You can’t make this stuff up

Y’all! What the hell is wrong with us?? Why do we choose to do business with GM when it cannot find its arss with both hands? And imagine the quality, or lack thereof, of the $60K+ trucks y’all are pining for (me included) with the parts shortages, sitting idle waiting for chips/parts, etc. Every neuron in my commonsense brain is telling me to run from GM and my order and don’t look back, which in fact I have started that process. Do yourselves a favor and do the same! You’ll be emotionally better off and financially better off… any therapist will tell you that the dopamine rush you get if/when you take delivery will wear off quickly and you will be saddled with the dissonance that you did not take my advice once that new truck spends more time in the shop than under your butts!

If your tenacity has something to do with COVID stress and anxiety and somehow a new truck is the solution, I get it; either find another manufacturer or better yet, a good therapist! Walking away also sends a powerful message to GM management that they SUCK and that has consequences (they think they are too big to fail… in the words of my late Pops, that’s BULL-A-S%^$-A!!!

      Good Luck!

Unfortunately this is not just a GM problem. Go look at other manufacturer forums and you’ll see much of the same things complained about here.

I was looking through the RAM forums last night and they are going through the same thing. One guy’s truck has been sitting on the plant lot for 8 weeks and still hasn’t shipped. Another has been waiting 3-4 months for his order to be accepted. Multiple constraints on engine/trim packages, chips missing, etc, etc.

A friend, his dad and uncle all ordered 2022 F-250s and it took them 7 months to get the order accepted and built. The only reason they got their trucks a few weeks after they were built was because the Ford HD plant is in Louisville, KY and we live in Nashville, TN. So the trucks were loaded on a hauler and had to travel less than 200 miles down 65 straight to the dealer.

Yes, all this back and forth, delays in orders and shipping is annoying but pretty much all manufacturers are having issues.

My truck was produced on April 14th and some of yours were later and you have received them, but yet here I sit with my truck sitting somewhere baking away in the sun and Lord knows what else might be happening to it. I really cannot believe it should take 4 months to ship a vehicle. My salesman told me 2 to 3 months when he said it was built, but that was long long ago.
If anyone has ideas to help push this process along Id appreciate it. Ive seen some of you had contacted folks at GM and that seemed to help, but the chat people cannot even tell me what its waiting for. My luck it will get wiped out by a hurricane or something.

My truck finally came in yesterday. Unfortunately, I decided not to buy it, due to my dealer low balled my trade in. I believe they thought that they had me over a barrel and that I was so eager to get that truck that I would accept a low value trade. They were wrong. This type of crap and games dealers play, is why so many people just buy online and completely bypass dealerships. No headaches and bull crap games.

From what I’ve been seeing on here and talking to other GM employees. The higher trimmed trucks are taking priority and being delivered first as the profit margin is higher. Have seen several cases of Denali’s ordered and built after my elevation order and they have been delivered already.

That may be the case for some, but at the dealer I ordered mine from they show 20 refreshed Sierras on their website. None are on the lot. Of the 20, 7 are Elevations, 1 SLT (which is what I ordered), 1 SLE, 1 AT4x , the rest are either Denali, AT4 (even split). I think it depends on what that particular dealer was allowed allocations for. My dealer sells a ton of Elevations and Denalis.

I received an email saying my truck was in Viborillas, Mexico waiting for a carrier. There was no mention of chips or parts so I’m assuming the wait is near the end. I haven’t been able to find much info on GM and Viborillas. I did find Kansas City Southern has a major rail line there. A google earth showed a large lot with hundreds of trucks next to the rail line.

Has anyone else received a similar email about their truck and know how long it has taken to get to the border? I live near Houston so I’m estimating less than 3 weeks.

I’m giving this till the end of September if no change in status I will go and order a Ford, I have to say I have had four Fords and they were very good trucks. I have rented a F 150 two time during the summer, while waiting for mine, and I actually like the truck, I went with a GMC for a change, It appears I may have made the wrong choice as far as Customer service and updates are concerned. I am still getting emails and ads from GM every time I take the time to contact them. The offers for a GM credit card are inundating my Email box. It’s like they have no Idea whats going on. Good luck to anyone in the same situation as I am in. My truck is going to be a left over IF and I mean If it arrives, Funny you can’t get passed the lowest GM reps for answers and my dealer says they get no answers from the people they need to talk too. Just absolutely sickening how I have been treated.. I went to order a Tundra, but the dealer in Newton NJ is charging a an $8,000. Dealer upcharge… That was a few weeks ago when I really lost hope..

My dealer told me last week that GM plans to have all orders delivered by end of October. GM is having to use cargo ships to get the trucks from Mexico then to the closet ports of destination. The ships due to the issues at the border and trains are taking to long to pass through. My truck was ordered in December 2021, built in June 2022, and was “shipped” in the beginning of September.

My father in law has been waiting since February 2022 for his Ford truck and has been getting the issues we have been with GM. His 2022 model is about to become a 2023 model.

I have had the same canned responses from gmc, and any complaining, you are told to just send a “private message” which you only get more canned bs. In the mean time, like many others, my email has blown up with “new gmc” material, GMC credit card offers and ton of other marketing junk. Totally let down and disgusted. I was done and I purchased my 2019 leased AT4, and my now 2023 can be inserted sideways where the sun does not shine. Done with the whole thing. I purchased a position for a truck on the GMC website on the same day it opened. I was called by the dealer about 2-3 weeks later saying I could order a truck. I believe that was November 26th, They built it May 2nd and as of today it’s still in Mexico so what does buying a position mean? They take you off the market and treat the customer with disrespect. Total disregard for any communication, The GM experience is not working. I did get a new email yesterday for a New Chevy truck and a GM credit card. You can’t make this stuff up. They said they including the owner of the dealership spoke to the Northeast area rep and the rep used the word Hoping October shipping. I wonder how long it takes to ship a truck from Mexico to North West NJ? If it ships Oct 31 when will it show. So If you put down money for a position on a truck on the GM website what did that really mean? All these ads I see for EV vehicles from GM now have a new meaning EV will stand for Eventually you’ll get a vehicle. It’s a shame no one from GM visits this website to defend or provide information to customers. Ron

To my fellow GMC vehicle hopefuls and maxepr:

Yes; my 2022 GM vehicle “purchase” experience has been similar….

      Placed a deposit on: 10-29-21
Order Date by the local GMC Dealer: 5-5-22
      Scheduled for Production: 7-5-22
      Picked up for Production: 7-11-22
Build Complete at Holding Facility: 8-4-22
      Shipped via Rail: 8-11-22
      At Holding Facility: 8-29-22
TENTATIVE Delivery date to local GMC Dealer: 9-22-22

Throughout this timeline I have maintained a positive attitude.

      Look around…

Unless you have your head stuck in the sand, (since late 2020) EVERY single industry, is having “supply chain issues.”

      Consider this…
the high cost of gas and diesel fuel (Fjb) is recking havoc, throughout the automotive transportation. Drivers (at the GMC holding Facilities) are refusing to deliver vehicles, due the high cost of fuel and low profit margins, of “trucking” vehicles across the USA.

At EACH of the GM distribution centers, (between the production plant and your local GM dealer) there are THOUSANDS of trucks and vehicles WAITING to be “trucked” or “railed” to their final dealer destinations. Being a GM Logistics Manager, (this past year) has got to be nightmare. You couldn’t pay me enough money, to do that job.

Last Quarter; GM LOST 1 BILLION DOLLARS in revenue…. DUE to; building thousands of vehicles and NOT being able to get those vehicles to market, SOLD to customers.

As a consumer; it is a difficult time to be ordering ANYTHING, let alone, a “custom” anything.

Building vehicles, (parts being manufactured and final assembly) are dependent on “just in time” supply.

Just yesterday; the FedEx CEO, is predicting a world wide RECESSION.

If this; supply chain issue, was limited to GM, I’d wholeheartedly agree with maxepr. However; it’s NOT just a GMC problem.

      A suggestion to all…

Having a positive attitude, and patience, makes ALL the difference.

Give the GM Customer Representatives a break, they are doing their best, with the information they are able to disseminate to you and I.

My GM Customer Representative experience, has been fine. I might not like their answers, (to my questions) I would have liked delivery of my vehicle, MONTHS ago. However; the GM Customer Reps. have ALWAYS been very courteous and professional throughout this challenging situation.

After I take possession of my 2022 GM vehicle; I’ll share exactly what worked for me, preventing my 2022 order from being pushed to a 2023 order. (adding thousands of dollars, for basically the same 2022 vehicle, delivered in 2023)

I figured this out, planned and “customized” my GM vehicle, back in the summer of 2021.

I’ve used this same “plan,” / approach when ordering and delivering purchased product and materials, faster. (In the construction industry)

Thank you, GMC, what facility did your truck get built in? Was it a Mexico truck, I have tried to be positive; your truck was built THREE months AFTER mine, my head has never been in the sand. Your truck has changed in status and has moved, my truck has been sitting at the Sialo Mexico Plant since May 2nd, It was finished three months ahead of yours and hasn’t moved. Wait three more months and let’s see how your positive attitude goes. Maybe rent a truck three times over the summer and spend over 2K and see how that positive attitude goes. We kind of needed one for over the summer.

Captain, I was at the dealer last week and they had trucks on the lot from Mexico built after mine. I just think with all the supply Chain issues happening GM has shown more weakness in delivering cars than other manufacturers. I’m also disappointed in myself for sticking with this to almost a point of no return because how long will it take me now to get a FORD truck if I ordered one??? Bet it’s still quicker than ordering a GM product. I purchased a new Caddy XT 5 March 2nd and the rear seat heater chip finally came in last week. If this falls through with my truck { it’s a left over } I’m going to order either a F-150 or a Tundra.

First post, perhaps I should have found this site before I ordered a 2023 2500 AT4.

Having a wife who works international logistics I had a pretty good idea that it would take much longer than advertised.
I was prepared for 6 months but by the looks of it I am in for a longer wait.
Having waited over a year, for ATF form 4 tax stamps, I’m used to this.

I don’t think the answer is a Tundra.
I toyed around with that as my original plan, but they said 12-14 months on orders and that is for an unproven first (or second) model year. At least I was getting honest information from Toyota.

Good news is that I might be able to pay cash by the time it rolls into town.

The regional manager that my dealer talks to promised an October delivery. Hope is fleeting, I think if this is a no show by December I will go and custom order a Ford From Neilson Ford in NJ. How long is an acceptable time? Remember my vehicle was ordered Nov 26th 2021 and built in May. My order for a 2022 GMC Elevation Crew Cab was submitted and approved around 04/11/2022. The truck as per my dealer was produced in late June 2022. The vehicle is still in Mexico and my dealer just told me that it is currently on a “Quality Control Hold” and likely because it needs a chip. They cannot give me an ETA on shipping. How long will the truck be left in Mexico on a QC Hold? This whole process is crazy and my current 2019 Silverado is just depreciation as I could have gotten $4000 in equity on top of the lease end buyout price. I have had to extend my lease in order to wait for this vehicle. The Chevy dealer is now pressuring me to take a vehicle off their lot which are low trim levels and do not have any of the options and packages I ordered on my GMC.

My GM Customer Representative experience, has been fine. I might not like their answers, (to my questions) I would have liked, delivery of my vehicle, MONTHS ago.

However; the GM Customer Reps. have ALWAYS been very courteous and professional throughout this challenging situation. I can’t thank them enough.

I’m now sharing exactly what worked for me, preventing my 2022 order from being pushed to a 2023 order.

On 10-21-21; I ordered a higher end, Sierra trim package. (2022 AT4X) Figuring Corporate GMC would build more higher trim package Sierra Trucks, for the opportunity for larger revenues, than their lower trim packages.

Common sense and customization is key.

      Common Sense:
PAINT COLORS: There are only so many and a limited amount of, Titanium Rush Metallic and Dynamic Blue Metallic painted Sierra truck bodies. (I love both colors.) An endless supply of Summit White truck bodies.
Therefore; I chose Summit White, because I was betting, a Summit White truck order would get filled faster, (in the 2022 production year) than my other, preferred color choices.

      Customization:
      Customization is KEY.
Because I’m just another “American Joe,” waiting at Tustin GMC, attempting to get on their waiting list, for a 2022 Sierra AT4X, was NOT an option. I would have NEVER gotten an opportunity to purchase a 2022 Sierra AT4X. If I was fortunate, and, at the “head of the line,” when their allotted AT4X arrived, I’d be at the mercy of the dealership, paying WELL ABOVE MSRP, for a AT4X truck, that probably wouldn’t have everything I’d want, included on my truck, or… stuff, I didn’t want.

Because of this… I “customized” my order; by ordering, an under the rear seat storage kit.

That’s it. NOTHING more. By adding an, under the rear seat storage kit, was enough to move my order from the “normal” assembled production line, and onto the “customize” assembly production line, assuring my order would be included in the 2022 production, and NOT pushed, to a 2023 production. (Adding an additional $7,000 to the MSRP, of every similar 2023 truck) Too much “customization” or NOT common used items, are NOT going to get your truck order, faster, into the “picked for production” on the “custom” truck production line.

When my 2022 GMC Sierra AT4X arrived at Tustin, GMC, I informed them of the GMC Price Protection Program. (learned of the GMC Price Protection Program here on the blog, for those orders which remained 2022 orders and deliveries)

GMC graciously honored the MSRP, (at the time of my order date) paid Tustin GMC the difference, of my 10-21-22 ordered MSRP, and the 10-1-22 listed sticker MSRP. (A significant savings)

On 10-7-22; Tustin GMC treated me fairly and sold the 2022 GMC 1500 AT4X WITHOUT ANY dealer markups.
I financed a portion of my purchase, through my Credit Union promotion, (cutting the dealer’s interest rate in 1/2) at 2.45% APR.

I’m NOW; (one of the very few) a proud owner / drivers of a Summit White ,(with Obsidian Rush, Full grain leather front seat trim) 2022 6.2L V8 Sierra 1500 AT4X.

By the way… what I do for a living???
I’m a Sr. Electrical Project Manager, focused on the EV Charging segment of the electrical construction industry, at the tail end of a local project, installing (1,200 each) EV charging units (both DC fast chargers and Level 2 chargers) at a local So. Cal. airport.

Most would think and have asked… Why aren’t you purchasing an EV truck?? NOT a chance. At best; EV’s are a 4 passenger, (battery powered) vehicle, by NO definition, meet the minimum standards, of a “truck.”

Lastly; Fjb, gavin newsome and their democrat “build back better” money. Their money is paying for my V8 truck AND the fuel, it guzzles!

GMC; we both are, Professional Grade.

Have a great weekend, I’m driving my AT4X!

GMC2022, Yet it still took you within days of a full year to take delivery of a one year old truck. I don’t see where you accomplished anything by all your ideas since you got no upgrade options which most want some or many of and took delivery after some 23’s are arriving. As for pricing, a reputable dealer demands $0 deposit on a truck they know might or might not ever show up along with the best of dealers honor supplier pricing to this day. As long as you are happy that is all that matters. Good luck with your truck.

      pmanches54 complain much?!? Sounds like… you’re vaccinated.

      A “one year old truck.”
My truck was built in July 2022. I sleep well at night, knowing I didn’t purchase a ”new” truck, with a motor, that was either sitting in a shipping container, or… a completed truck, sitting in a dirt lot, with it’s oil, uncirculated, in the oil pan, for the past so many months.

Oh… my truck is a 2022 and the the 2023 AT4X models come out late next Spring of 2023. Yeah… that makes a lot of sense, if we were living in 2020, but, we’re NOT!

      NO upgrade options???
Are you a moron? Apparently you don’t know what comes standard, on an AT4X?? A better question is… What upgrade options, don’t come standard, on an AT4X?

I purchased the AT4X trim package, I wouldn’t have typically purchased. (in the past) I figured Corporate GMC would build higher trim package trucks, (AT4X) COMPLETE, not missing chips or options. (for larger revenues, selling higher trim package trucks COMPLETE, rather than lower trim packages)

      Accomplished??

      Yeah; I waited 12 months to purchased…
a much needed 2022 new truck, (replacing a 2011) without having to wait an additional 12 months and paying a 2023 price increase, for all intensive purposes, the same AT4X truck, with off road bumpers.

      What I didn’t need…
      the drama of…
      1) purchasing a “daily driver” for 11 months.
      2) waiting in line, for an ordered “refresh” model, on hold for micro processors, never sure when GMC would ever release and ship.
      3) A substantial price increase, coming with the 2023’s.

      …your GMC purchasing experience.

I lived a DRAMA free life, for the past 12 months… That’s what I accomplished.

FYI: When I ordered my custom build, (on the GMC.com website) a $100.00 deposit was required, nothing more.

A small price (which was credited at the time of purchase) to pay, for a drama free purchasing experience.

GMC2022 may I asked how you got the time-line information. I have a at4x that was built in the first week in July and is still at the factory waiting for transport. I have tried both the live chat with advisor and called and talk to a advisor and all they say is we don’t know when it’ll be shipped. My dealer can’t get any information from gm either. They have vehicles that are arriving at the dealership that according to vinview are listed as sitting at the factory waiting to be shipped. Any help would be appreciated.

        Bk007:

I found the live chat to be impersonal, and for the most part worthless. Developing a “relationship,” with an individual customer service rep., has always gotten me, far better results.

My time line is my own, I created it by asking the questions at each step of the delivery process / truck’s status.

My time line as an example…
        Shipped via Rail:

At Holding Facility:
TENTATIVE Delivery date to local GMC Dealer:
        ARRIVED at GMC Dealer:

As I see it; there was a “bottle neck” at every one of the holding facilities, (along the delivery process) due to third party rail and trucking facilities, being able to control the delivery flow, of which GMC’s vehicles move on that day and which vehicles wait, for the next rail or truck. (whenever the next rail / truck becomes available) This is when I accepted the “no news to report” and waited for a follow up Customer Rep., call, two weeks later.

At I continued to ask the same GMC Customer Service Rep. She was always honest with me, always told me the truth no matter the message.

Please don’t kill the messenger, because of the message.

Not sure I should do this…

Try giving Sherida (spelling is NOT correct) at GMC a call: 1-855-880-1500,,5912136

Be polite and don’t overwhelm her, with daily phone calls. I followed up with her, as she directed, usually every two weeks.

        Best of Luck.

      HI all –

I ordered an AT4 on April 15th and order was accepted and entered on May 7th.

It went to order status 4,200 around September 1st.

Order Status 4,200 says in transit. What does this really mean? Seems like it should not take 6 weeks to ship the truck. East Texas above it was at 4,200 for 3 months.

Any help to understand from anyone?

      Thanks!!!

Got a call back yesterday from GM my vehicle is still sitting in Mexico with unchanged pickup status, and when I called my dealer they checked and said my truck is still in the missing parts status. The dealer said it is not in the awaiting shipping status at all. I wonder now what is true?

Well here we go again, as of yesterday GM called said my truck was in the hands of a 3rd party shipper and he has no info for me and he can’t get any information it’s the shipper fault not theirs. I called the dealer about a hour later, The dealer said the truck was finished August 26th, keep in mind it was built April 2nd, and that it was in a shippers lot but there is no way to get to it because it is blocked in by a thousand other vehicles, the dealer also said they do have 23’s on the lot but nothing close to what I want. The rep, the dealer talked to said they have no idea when the truck I ordered would be shipped. Wow, The GM rep I talked to was named Mike 866-790-5600 ext. 5924413, Just ask him where is Ron’s truck if you ever call… What a crappy ride this has been…

      Again, patience.

Be glad there is movement in your truck’s delivery, your truck will be arriving soon. My experience, 3rd party shippers will take longer than what is being quoted and expected. No one has an idea when it will be delivered, it probably up to the driver. (what they can fit on each delivery shipment)

Keep on complaining, it’ll make your already “crappy ride” order experience, even better. NOT. (SARCASM)

Well GMC, Movement? I was told that the truck I ordered was stuck so far back in the delivery yard that it will not be shipped for quite some time. I wonder what they mean, GMC blamed the third-party carrier in Mexico for the delay. It has to go by rail to a boat in Mexico the sail to Rhode Island then trucked to NJ. So minimum 21days once it escapes an overloaded shipping yard. The 23’s are on the lot and the vehicle I ordered is now a left over. So, GMC the truck is not being trucked up from Mexico, Maybe, you should educate yourself on GM’s sad state of affairs the supply chain is just revealing the sad state of affairs GM is internally. I left you a phone number to call above call Mike and you can experience the GM blame game. I purchased a position to by a truck in November and GM tells me possibly a late December early January delivery now. GMC is that your idea of soon December January delivery? The thing was built May 2nd. If you’re going to buy GM, I suggest you buy one off the lot or order one built in the USA you may get one in a year. What a pitiful ride this has been.

Its funny the market has so flip flopped. People who ordered their vehicles or inventory vehicles that were built/in transit are all spoken for, but the 23’s are coming and sitting on the lot because people arent buying them. Mine is in transit so I imagine it will be here within a couple weeks. My son works at the dealership and one of trucks that came in last week the upper control arms were all rusty. Not impressed.

CaptainMusky, not sure about other areas of the country but around here the trucks sitting on dealer lots are for the most part customs, and work trucks along with almost all having the little four cylinder engine. It was just last week my dealer told me he is finally able to order some V 8’s. This dealer does have one 2023 3/4 ton LTZ but it is about as stripped down as you could get, only thing about it that is LTZ is the badging. I still think if everyone would refuse to buy these leftovers GM would have to make some changes but for as long as there are buyers for these they will continue to send them. How on earth can they justify shipping lot inventory 23’s when customers continue to wait for their 22’s that were ordered and built months ago?

      My patience paid off…sort of.

5 Feb 22: (Order Code 1100) Ordered a 2022 Sierra Denali 1500 (summit white) w/6.2L, 4WD, Tech and Reserve pkg.

11 Feb 22: (Code 2000) ORDER ACCEPTED BY GM. Notified by email. Excited to see the progress. (LOL)

20 May 22: (Code 3000) ORDE ACCEPTED BY PRODUCTION CONTROL

20 Jun 22: (Code 3800) ORDER PRODUCED, VIN IS AVAILABLE. (I looked up the VIN and confirmed that the truck really exists)

18 Jul 22: (Code 4B00) ORDER BAYED; VEHICLE IS WAITING ON TRANSPORTATION OR PULLED FOR QUALITY CONTROL. What the heck is this? Aside from the “long” wait, this threw me for a loop, so I called the dealer. Was told by the dealer that this is “normal” and the truck would ship as soon as transportation was available. (Hmmm, considering the state of affairs in the USA…)

18 Aug 22: (Code 4300) INTERMEDIATE DELIVERY. Here’s where things got a little interesting. Apparently, the truck was transported from Ft. Wayne to Birmingham, AL to be “chipped”. So, we (the dealer and I) waited and waited and…waited. No change in status for three additional months. No information whatsoever from ANYONE regarding the status of my order. WTF?!

11/1/22: Received a call from the dealer to let me know that a 2023 model had just arrived onto the lot. Go figure! The ’23 has everything on it that I had ordered on the ’22. Instead of Summit white, it was Tricoat white (I actually like it more than I thought I would). The wheels weren’t the ones I liked, so I had them change them out. The dealer stuck to his promise of pricing the vehicle at MSRP (which was about $3k more than the ’22). I had virtually no bargaining power because, as we all know, if I didn’t accept the vehicle, someone else would have.

In the end, I feel blessed because I didn’t have to accept a one-year-old vehicle that had been “somewhere” on the supply line sitting idle in a parking lot in God knows where. I’ve read too many stories (mostly on this forum) of “issues” with vehicles that sit too long in the elements without being started, only to lead to more issues down the road. So, I was getting a bot nervous…until the ’23 was an option for me. And, I have to admit, the ’23 (although essentially the same vehicle as the ’22) is a sweet ride. I truly like the truck.

@GGATC33 – what wheels did you choose as an alternate, where did you get them? I’ve convinced myself that the 2023 wheels are not as bad as I initially thought but still prefer the 2022 wheels and considered swapping them out when mine comes in – also at 4300 but hopefully not stuck like yours. OMG what an ordeal.

@IrwinMFletch – I opted for the 22-inch “Bright Chrome Wheels” (not the multi-spoke chrome). These are the ones that have a “wishbone” look to them. They’re a $3,400 option. The dealer simply charged me the difference between the original wheels and the upgrade. They are GMC OEM wheels and truly set the truck off nicely.

Still waiting on mine. The dealer lot is really full of 22’s and 23’s now that aren’t selling. No, they aren’t all the 4 cylinder models either. AT4s, Denalis, etc.
My son works there and he just sent me a pic of a 22 Yukon that he is detailing and the paint is TERRIBLE! Must have sat in the sun for months. He is going over it again with the blue pad and hopefully it will be good.

Oh wow My 22 Denali is still in Mexico somewhere, It was built April 2nd. The truck was completed August 26th. As of 11/14/22 GM has no idea where the truck is in Mexico and when it could be shipped. This is not made up, the owner of the dealership met with the GMC area rep last Friday and she has no Idea when it would be located and shipped. There are no other updates available. I wonder what sun damage has been done to the truck I ordered. I ordered this truck a year ago today. The owner of the dealership is now handling my sale personally. I have been watching two plain Jane 23 Denali’s sitting on the lot for a few weeks. Not my choice of colors. I am giving myself till December to get this vehicle then I will move on. The fact that the North East area rep has no clue to when something could happen is troublesome, I think the days of ordering what you want is over. I’m leaning towards a Tundra 1794, or the Ford king ranch Hybrid. My only GM contact is Mike 855-880-1500 ext. 5924413 if you want to talk to someone but he has very limited information. Good luck

This morning I drove to work and checked my gmail before going into the office. I see an email from GMC saying “congratulations” and I was thinking it was just some promotional thing. I read the email and it said that my truck is “ready to ship”. This is the first email I have ever gotten regarding my truck. Its been “in transit” on my dealership site since Oct 11th. I asked my salesman about it and he said it was loaded onto a railcar en route to New Richland Wisconsin then it will be transported via car hauler here. I might get this thing yet. LOL I am bummed however. Looking at the window sticker on my truck the x31 Protection Package wasnt selected which I wanted, just the x31 pkg so I will have to order those floor liners separately. It does have the spray on bedliner however. I need to pay more attention when reviewing things ugh!

Well Just called GM today, as of 11/17/2022 the truck is pulled out of the shipping area and is now missing a check engine chip. In 3 days, it has been a year since I ordered this truck, we (the dealer and I on a conference call) were told this summer it was completed August 26th and It would be shipped October. GM is totally messed up. Keep in mind this truck was built in April. The 23’s are now available in Red, I was going to order one, but the exact same truck is now $ 8,100 more expensive. you really can’t make this up.

Well my topper that I ordered just came in this week. I ordered it 2 weeks after my truck showed in transit thinking the timing would be about perfect since it was a 6 to 8 week lead time. The place called and wanted to schedule install, but I said I’d love to, but my truck isnt here yet. The guy laughed and he said you’re the second guy I talked to today with that problem.

Well, the dealer checked with their people on Nov 18th, and update they got was it was bayed to get shipped on the 17th from Mexico. It was showing a check engine light due to a faulty chip and the horn was not working at its final inspection. So now they are waiting for a chip and it could take months. The dealer suggested I bail on this truck and order a 23. The 23 is now available in the red but the new purchase price is $77,595 as opposed to $69,295 I signed for. So the same truck went up $8,300 bucks in a year. Heading to Toyota today to price out a 1794 Tundra Hybrid.

When I initially ordered my truck I had selected the towing mirrors. I was then told months later they discontinued on half ton trucks so I could either ditch the mirrors or wait, but no guarantee they would offer them in 23 so I just ditched the mirrors. I have never had towing mirrors before and my boat is so wide my prior trucks were hard to see around it, but I think this new style is considerably wider so I will probably be fine without them. My buddy has a similar boat with a 22 silverado and says he has no issues seeing around it. Considering my boat is about as wide as any trailer can legally be I would bet you would be fine without them or just get those gaudy clamp on ones. I just received an email this morning that my truck has reached the distribution center. Getting closer, the distribution center is about 2 hours from my house.

It will be a couple days before I can get it since it has to go through service and then detail which I have insisted that my son does it since he works there :-). Well, picked up my truck Saturday and I will say, the wait was worth it! This thing is beyond my wildest dreams! It almost seems like this was built by someone other than GM because everything is just such high quality. They knocked it out of the park with this refresh. Good luck to the rest of you still waiting. Just know it will be worth it.
