Has anyone heard about when the Park Distance Control Retrofit is going to be rolled out for the 2022 Sierra? I backed into a pole a while ago (the impact was less than 1″ from the non-functioning sensor). GM claims that they’ve rolled it out to the dealers. My dealer parts department knew nothing about it. The service department indicated they haven’t heard anything. I’m really annoyed about it. I took delivery in May of 2022 and was told the retrofit would be in the fall of 2022.

I recently backed into a tree. Damaged the passenger side tail light. Dent to back of truck. No longer a separate lens. $800 for a taillight assembly. 2022 Denali 3500HD. No warning from the park assist. How many other people have experienced this failure? Time for a class action lawsuit?

Well, despite hitting the pole at very low speed, my bumper needs to be replaced along with the step pad, side step insert, and bracket. Dealer’s body shop quoted $3,700. Plus, get this, 1.0 hour to reprogram the park distance control.
GM’s defense to a class action will be that we signed some document at delivery acknowledging that the park distance control was not equipped on the trucks and it releases them from liability. They’ll also claim that the owners manual has a disclaimer that says not to rely on the park distance control and always check the surroundings, blah blah blah.
