I’ve ordered a ’22 GMC 3500HD with the 6.6 L8T because my ’17 GMC 3500 with the L5P has cost $2,100 on 2 DEF repairs and a leaky transmission line all so far this year. My ’17 has 103,000 miles. It’s done a great job towing my 14.5k 5th wheel. However, it was out of service for 4 weeks in ’22 while the dealer troubleshot & repaired 2 DEF issues. I’ve decided to get out of the diesel because I’d just as soon get rid of any more costly DEF problems. I can’t tolerate a truck out of service for 4 weeks with a DEF problem. A neighbor eliminated his exhaust DEF system on his ’16 Chevy 3/4 ton but I do not consider that an option I want to take besides the high initial cost to do it. What are the 6.6 L8T owners say out there that tow over 10.0k?
