Does anyone have any idea when the 2022 GMC Denali Ultimate will go into production?

They are already hitting the dealers. Mine was supposed to be built last week but the shutdown killed that. Hopefully it’ll be next week when they start!

I did my reservation and paid $100 Dec 28 2021. The dealer still tells me he has no allocations for an ultimate yet . If you have a build date when did you do your reservations?

I had a reservation for a Denali Ultimate, placed an order, had an allocation id from my dealer, and just two weeks ago received an update via an online chat session that my order status was “3300” with a production week assigned of end of May. Two days ago I received a call stating that my order has been dropped, will not be produced this year, and will be produced as a 2023 model. Called my local dealer and they claimed that GM has cancelled ALL of their 2022 GMC Sierra allocations (reservations & stock sales). I was also told to anticipate a 15%-18% increase in MSRP for the 2023 model. I was so excited about this truck…now, that is replaced with utter disappointment and the realization that it’s no longer likely to happen.

@Gotwoody…when did you place your reservation and is your order accepted by GM or just taken by the dealer? I placed my reservation on 10/31/21 and it’s been nothing but crickets so far, other than the dealer writing down my desired specs in hopes of getting an allocation for an ultimate at some point.

I talked with my dealer yesterday and I was informed, no movement yet, still waiting for a build date, hang in there! Hmmm I also heard the 2023 GMC is replacing the LM2 3.0 L diesel with a LZ0 3.0L diesel engine but, I believe it’s and updated LM2 engine. I don’t think a 15%-18% increase in price would be in my wheelhouse for a 2023 Ultimate. Since February when I ordered mine the price has increased an additional $2850. What have you heard from your dealers?

Please keep us informed on any details regarding the Denali Ultimate production. This is getting very frustrating.

Shew these posts scare me! Sold my x5 to ‘consolidate’ and go to the truck full time. I currently have a 4 month old SLT Limited with the 5.3 and want to upgrade to a Denali Ultimate. Original order placed on March 14th for a White on Alpine Duramax. Order has still yet to be accepted.

I then contacted the dealer about 2 weeks ago and asked questions, and the sales person stated that they heard it was due to the Super Cruise – That all 13 Denali Ultimates they currently have orders for have not moved. I asked if i did a Denali Reserve with no Super Cruise if he thought that would move faster – He said ‘in theory’. So we placed a white on atmosphere denali reserve duramax. No movement yet, order as of today has not been accepted by GM.

I found a white on black 6.2 denali reserve close to me, actually where i got the SLT from, but the dealer is doing a market adjustment of $5k. Trying to decide if I 1.) Can do the 6.2 even though I had my heart set on something ‘different’ with the diesel, and 2.) If i can justify because of market needs the $5k market adjustment.

I just really dont want to stretch this out all summer waiting on the darn truck to come in.

I happened upon some stats today in regards to the Sierra reservations.
      20K Reservations Accepted
      9K Accepted to production
      2.5K Orders Allocated
      1.5K Delivered

I made my 2022 Denali Ultimate reservation in December through GMC. The local dealer called in February to take the order. As of today, the dealer rep has sent me screen shots of their order screens which only says the order has been accepted which I believe has been unchanged for 2 months.

The numbers you are quoting is for Sierra as a whole and not just the Ultimate Denali correct? 1.5K Delivered especially . where did you find this information?

tbounds02 – the numbers represent the 2022 refreshed Sierra platform as a whole. A friend of mine is a sales associate at a GM dealer and the numbers were part of a presentation GM provided to their dealers. I’m told the presentation was “extremely enthusiastic” and the numbers were represented as a “great success” for GM and its customers.

pmanches54 – when I was told that my 2022 reservation was cancelled, I was told that all remaining 2022 allocations for Denali Ultimate were cancelled and will be moved to the 2023 production year. I was also told that I will have to resubmit my order when 2023 opens and hope that my dealer receives any allocations in order to fulfill. :/

3800 code on my 2022 Denali 1500 super cruise package. Not an ultimate couldn’t stand the seat color. Produced March 22. And there she sits in a quiet lot with all her friends. Hell I wish someone would just go hit the on star button. I’m sure I would get better updates.

I have also heard that super cruise is getting most if not all Ultimates canceled. I don’t think there will be any more built for model year 2022.

I placed my reservation on day 1 in October. Dealer called in December to have me finalize the order. I’ve called 3 times since for an update and nothing, other than to tell me I’m 1st on the list with them.

We can’t find any details online other than a bunch of positive press about GM and this forum. It’s garbage. All I’m wanting at this point is some communication.

Dmandol, I would have expected better information from the dealer but the bottom line is almost 0 Ultimates are getting delivered. As for all positive, not on this forum, we are all pretty much in the same boat. The SS Waiting it Out.

I am in the same boat as dmandol. Reserved day 1. My order was accepted mid-Feb and production started March 30th. I have received a notice that the truck has been produced and has a VIN # assigned. My dealer is being very difficult and won’t give me any details on where it’s at or when it will be delivered.

As stated my Denali was made 3/21. I have a vin. Gm says call the dealer but the dealer told me they wish gm would quit directing people to then as they don’t have any information until they receive an invoice. Frustrating

I am still waiting, dealer still waiting for order to be accepted no movement , the only update he has to offer is that his rep told him that GM was going to just pull the orders and build them whether dealers order was accepted or not ?
Now I am speaking of the 2022 ultimates . I have no idea if the rep knows what he was talking about .
but so far reserved mine Dec 28 ,2021 , order put in Feb. nothing since .

I just received a call from my sales rep in regards to my Denali ultimate order that I placed on Feb. 4th. He told me that if I still wanted to move forward with the 2022 model then I would have to forgo supercruise and GMC would give me a credit. He wasn’t sure how much the credit would be, but he said that he heard it was around $2k. He said that if I do want supercruise then I would have to wait for the 2023 model.

Read this morning…….. Buyers affected by constraints for GM Super Cruise and Enhanced Automatic Emergency Braking will receive a $2,300 MSRP credit. The features will not be available for retrofit at a later date. What’s next.

Got a call from a dealer in Pasadena, CA about a Denali Ultimate. They said they had one that would be available in late fall. The vehicle is in transit, but the dealership owner planned to drive it for “about 1,000 miles.” If I was interested they would then sell it for $5k over MSRP when he was done with it. Umm…no thank you.

I hope people remember dealers that act this way and they eventually go out of business. I had placed my reservation thru GMC on 10/31/21 and paid my $100 reservation fee and this is how I get treated. I know there are plenty of good dealers out there, but this just leaves a very bad taste.

What freaking crook this dealer is!!!!! I would spread the word to every source I could and do everything in my power to damage this guys business reputation. As hard as trucks are to get now and you had one reserved since October to do this is such a low life move. Scum bag comes to mind. I hope you tell him personally what a piece of crap he is. You should also contact the powers to be at GM and unload there too.

Got a call from my dealer in Indiana that 2022 Denali Ultimate production will not include Super Cruise. They claim no vehicles will have it until 2nd quarter of 2023 according to their update from yesterday. They “think” no other features will be unavailable but I’m skeptical. Originally I agreed to pay $5000 additional “Market Price Adjustment” when I ordered the vehicle back in February after waiting 4 months after getting a reservation. Now the dealer is only willing to offer $1k discount on their upcharge which is quite disappointing. Initially I was told it would be available sometime in June but now, if I proceed with the order minus the Super Cruise, it wouldn’t be expected until September. It seems deceptive to continually advertise super cruise and provide equipped review vehicles to the press when GMC cannot even provide any vehicles with this feature.

FYI, the Laura GMC posting above referred to a vehicle that according to the dealership, had already been sold. Not sure why they would lead me to believe it was available when it clearly wasn’t.

Most if not all of the trucks that are new you see online that are special vehicles are placed on website by GM when they leave the factory transportation site.
They are sold and unsold models the more special models are all sold , dealers don’t usually put them on the their websites , GM does this .

I stopped by my dealer last week to check on status of my ultimate order . He had received notice that if I wanted to continue with my order I would have to remove super cruise and emergency braking options .
The order site would not accept my order unless I deleted it . He removed those two options and it accepted order , but still no allocations for build .
This has been since Dec 2021 I made my reservations.
I don’t know if there is any chance of 2022 build , because 2023 build will start in June is my understanding.
I guess it’s good i still have my 2017 denali.

I live in AZ and had placed 2 reservations in October, one with a dealer locally and 1 with a dealer in California. I have been also speaking with Vanguard GMC in Texas, and they just told me something similar to what tbounds02 stated above, no more ultimates in 2022 with the Super Cruise option and that there will likely be no Super Cruise until at least January or February of next year (2023). He also said they have been told that the MSRP will increase by ~$10k on the 2023 model year Ultimates and they are using that as justification to upcharge $10k on the Ultimates they have under dealer allocation with no customer reservations. Not sure I believe a 12% lift in MSRP next year, but also wouldn’t be surprised if that is the case. More annoyed with GMC that some dealers are getting allocations where no customer reservation exists. What’s the point of having a pre-order reservation process and upfront fee for the reservation if it they don’t go down the reservation list in priority order. They clearly have the Ulitmate they quoted me in inventory as I verified it was listed on their website with a valid VIN and window sticker.

Placed an order on 12-19-21….was told my truck hit assembly line 3 weeks ago but had no super cruise. Being produced as a ’22 and potential delivery the week of 6-20-22. Not hopeful but it’s something.

Hey DenaliLaxDad9, what’s the latest on your Denali Ultimate? I’ve been told that the 6.2L v-8 are not available and will probably won’t be for some time. Any updates from anyone who did order and receive their 2022 Denali Ultimate would be appreciated.

I’ll give y’all a timeline on getting my Ultimate. I reserved one on day 1 in October. My official order was placed in early February. GMC started production on it March 30th. It was completed April 15th. I was told by my dealer that it would be arriving 2-3 weeks after that. I called every 2 weeks to check and every time I was told 2 more weeks. On June 10th I got the notification that it had left the facility in Indiana. I finally got a delivery date of June 23rd. On June 22nd they called and said 2 more weeks (imagine that). It is now scheduled to arrive July 11th. I guess it depends where you live and where it was built, but you can expect 3 months of waiting on delivery.

Ordered an Ultimate early March 2022 (Southern Ontario)

Got a call from my dealer today (July 7). All 3.0L and 6.2L not in production will be dropped. Shortage of engines.

Only option is to re order a 2023 Ultimate. LZ0 Diesel. Super cruise is NOT standard. Some different rims come standard. No pricing yet. This was all over the phone while the dealer was on their GM website.

Guess I’m holding onto my 2022 Limited for awhile longer……

I placed my order on February 4th. I was told by my dealer about a month ago that I was going to have to get a 2023 as GM was canceling the remaining Denali Ultimate orders. I then received an email from GM on 6/16/22 that my order has been accepted. I don’t have a build date as of yet, but I would assume it would be in the next 6 weeks or so given that they will start production on the ’23MY at the end of August. I’m not sure why there is so much miscommunication.

I pre-traded my Jeep wrangler in in feb and 8K down on an Ultimate order, and just like you guys, I was told no supercruise on May 2nd, and agreed the the 2500 taken off the 83,000 truck, them May 15th they told me no 6.2 and asked if I wanted a turbo diesel instead, I said no and told them to put my name on a red Denali, dealer said maybe a build on one late Aug, went and got my $25,000 trade in money and 8K dwn pwmt back, not even 4 days later(since I called around and left my name with other dealer on an Ultimate and was told everyone is spoken for) a dealer called me and told me a Ultimate came available(guy didn’t want it) I put 1000 down over the phone at 9:01 am when sales guy called me, bought it the next day with a 7K “market value increase”(gouging) but did it anyway, just before driving away the manager came up to me and said “you don’t know how rare this truck is, and that 6 people called to buy it and offered 10K over MSRP”, I asked why is it that rare? he said they only made 150 with everything they promised on it as advertised this year” – so don’t know how true that is but it has everything, plus the cat back exhaust and tonneau cover, for $91,000, if I’m hearing some people right, this one will be sold for 94,000? am I lucky or stupid? or a little bit of both? lol, btw-supercruise works awesome as well as everything they said would work…love this truck(Onyx black)…good luck all…not rubbing it in, just lucky I guess(lost tax savings with mt trade in though….I’ll work that out with my accountant later(manager said I could get that back….3500 is 3500!
