What’s up every one! I’ve been reading some of these posts about ordering a truck. Well it’s my turn. 2 weeks ago I ordered a gas 2022 Chevy Silverado 2500HD from a dealer. Thursday came around and I was told they didn’t have allocations for GM to build it. I thought that was weird considering its “Chevy Truck Month”. On the order I was given it has the “1100” code on it. This is my very first new Chevy truck. I really don’t know what to expect I’ve never done this before.

On a side not it took me 14 dealerships before I landed with this one. That happen to anyone else?

      Thanks for any info!

      Lou

I ordered a custom trail boss on December 16 order was accepted first week of February and now all I get is it’s in the system it’s supposed to be the limited but with both plants building the refreshed model I just don’t see how it could still be built going on 4 months now.it wouldn’t be bad if you really knew what’s going on. And they give me this crap that it goes on a train and goes to Chicago and then it comes to the dealer maybe if your far away but we are 2 hour from the Indiana plant and trucks leave every day

Dang sorry to hear that. Yeah not knowing is the worst! I’d rather someone be straight with me even if it is bad news. The dealer I’m working with told 2-3 months. I didn’t exactly believe it.
I had another dealership literally freak out on me about ordering a truck he didn’t even want to do. He said he can’t get anything for 7-8 months!

I ordered my 3500HD In March of 2021 and it was built Nov10th 2021. It has been sitting stuck in transit in Flint for months it is now March 21st 2022 over a year since I placed my order and I am still waiting for it to be delivered

Yeah I am driving a 1994 Chevy in the meantime that I had to buy in the interim as the dealer originally told me 8-10 weeks so I sold my 2008 Silverado. This deal has already cost me in the long run more out of pocket than expected due to the delays.

I would suggest contacting dealers directly. It took me 3 weeks from start to finish/delivery to get what I was looking for from a dealer (2022 Silverado 2500 LT, Crew Cab 4WD gas). Found two dealers that had already placed their dealer order and they were built or almost built. Several sales guys told me the popular models rarely hit their lot without already being sold. That’s how my deal went. I had a deposit down once I found what I wanted on the “virtual dealer lot” and waited about two weeks for it to show up (got lucky). I was warned that orders take forever so didn’t want to go that route. Good luck wherever you are in the order/search process. My truck is killer! I love it!

If you want a custom truck, built to order, you are going to have to be patient and wait.
I ordered my 2022 2500HD Custom CC LB 4×4 on 12/22/21. Traded my 2021, same model, and bought an 03 Dodge PU to get around in while waiting. I was told 4-12 months for delivery when ordered.
Currently just over 3 mo. and order still has not been accepted by GM.
Dealers best estimate now is 6-7 mo. from order to delivery.

If you can compromise for something close to what you want, you can build your truck on the build it site then use the site inventory to see trucks similar at dealers lots or in transit to dealers.

Good luck finding new trucks with popular options actually on a dealer lot. Even when GM shows it “in stock” that isn’t necessarily true. I just went through this. One salesman told me GM shows them in stock once they get a VIN, but many of them already have deposits on them. That’s how I got mine. Gotta work the phones.

Based on recent experience you may have some luck finding something at Feldman Chevrolet in Highland, MI. That’s where I bought mine. It came in on Monday. I dealt with Tyler Piotraczk, [email protected]. He’ll work hard for you. Also Gerry Raymond Chevrolet in Wintersville, OH has a lot of inventory coming in. They’re a new dealer so are getting some extra from GM. Jason Gomel, [email protected], did some good leg work for me. Went with the dealer that was closer to me though.

Soooo, it’s been 2 months since I placed an order for a 2500 Custom. The dealer I am working with hasn’t had allocations yet to order Silverado’s. I started look at other dealers and was able to get one to actually talk to me. They reviewed my order and told me that there is part shortage on trailer brake option. Any truth to this? I haven’t pulled me order from my current dealer but this is getting stupid. I could understand if my truck was being built but it hasn’t even been put on the assembly line. And I am stick and tired of this stupid 3-7k up charge. I’m not buying a refreshed 1500 RST with a 5.3 for 58K……Kiss my tailpipe!

Ordered our 2500 custom November 1st, was build in March but still no truck, I am so tired of the lies, die hard Chevy person but might be the last one ever. Custome service is a joke, you can get one story then an hour later get a different story from another rep. Dealers don’t care either because if you back out they will mark it up and sell it at a higher price, there is no reason for this what so ever. I just want the truth. At this point I truly believe they won’t ship trucks if there are any incentives. They will wait for them to run out before delivery of your vehicle

Its getting worse – no end in sight.

I’m beginning to think the whole situation is artificial and the automakers really don’t care – as long as they make a profit. Don’t get me started about the dealers they are making $$$$.

But just wait – inflation is going to catch up to the car industry – between inflation and interest rate hikes – vehicle sales will drop like a rock and with that prices – From what I have been reading – within the next 4-8 months.

Only problem – will there be any inventory???

This is ridiculous! What ever happened to ‘American Ingenuity’? Supply Chain issues should have been reviewed and planned at least a year ago – GM should be regretting closing their semiconductor plant back in 2017. Reference link below…

      https://www.gminsidenews.com/threads/chip-shortage-whatever-happened-to-gm-kokomo.304137/

It takes 3-4 years to bring a semiconductor plant up to manufacturing and delivery. I’m certain that semi conductors are not the only supply chain issue for all the automakers. The corporate heads refuse to bring manufacturing back to the US. This will only continue to get worse unless the US Govt and Automakers work together to fix the supply chain issues and bring manufacturing back to the US.

Between the supply chain issue – COVID and now inflation – auto prices are at an all time high! Don’t even begin to tell me that the US can’t find workers to manufacture all these products here in the US, and that it would cost too much to produce and sell vehicles. The cooperate heads just proved themselves wrong!

I put my order in Feb. 14, 2022 for a 2500 LT gas and my dealership said it was accepted by GM two weeks after it was ordered. I just stopped in last week to see where the truck was at in the process and she stated that it hasn’t moved or anything. So, currently just an order number. Pretty disappointing. More transparency with what is actually happening would be greatly appreciated, but I don’t see that happening

Yeah I figured my timing for buying a truck is way off. I was hoping to get this truck before winter so I can enjoy it before it starts to rot away, but that way not happen. I have also considered pulling the order and try again begining of next year. I’m not sure what to do?!

Soooo I finally talked to me dealer. She was telling me they didn’t have any allocations to order anything this week, which I’m not sure what I believe anymore. They are also a fleet dealer and have quite a bit of Silverados. The other thing she told me thats a bit concerning is I may have to order a 2023………Now whats that gonna cost me????????

I had to reorder my 2021 as a 2022 when they did the model change over, the price change was roughly $1000 because packages had changed between model year builds.
