As a huge Chevy fan one of the main reasons I’ve always been a fan of Chevy is because they had kept the infamous column shifter regardless of other manufacturers getting rid of them. Until I found out that the new Tahoe and suburban have an electronic shifter. If you have yet to see it there is basically a set of buttons next to the infotainment screen for park, reverse, neutral, drive and up/down manual shifters. Chevy has lost a huge amount of respect in this decision. The column shifter was perfect and was an iconic feature of trucks and SUVs and I don’t see the reason GM needed to get rid of it. Please comment if you like the new look but I personally am not a fan and will stick to the older models.

Gotta disagree with you. I think the electronic shifter is neat and way overdue! One of the reasons I am interested in buying a 2021.

@johnborny Disagree with that take.
When we think about it, the shifter is a way of putting the vehicle into the drive gear. It’s a functional piece of technology for driving the vehicle. In that regard, the push-button shifter does a better job in doing that because it:
1. Frees up interior space.
2. Eliminates any negative NHV qualities (since it’s completely digital).
3. Can be operated faster and with more accuracy than the column shifter.So that’s three reason for… and so far zero reasons against.
