I was just reading how the sales for the 2020 Malibu have fallen in the second quarter. They said the first quarter was great because more incentives were offered. As we speak, I believe that finally after trying to get a new car since April (2019 model was never made) that now my 2020 Malibu premier is finally being built. Maybe somebody in Detroit should stop and think for a minute that if they offered some of the savings and incentives that they’re offering on their SUVs and directed some of those at the Malibu maybe their sales would increase! I can’t believe the whole world is SUV crazy! If you keep dropping models the way you are what is going to happen when the price of gas zooms up and all these people buying all these SUVs can’t afford the gas anymore or all these people are too old to climb into their SUV and want to downgrade to a car what will be left? I think they’ll be looking at Toyota, Honda, Hyundai, Nissan etc. they don’t seem to be dropping any of their cars. I don’t know what goes on in corporate headquarters when they have meetings but certainly it doesn’t seem like it’s anything sensible.

To add to this confusing scenario, MAYBE if they offered THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS of incentives on the Malibu, or ANY incentives especially on the Premier model, like they offer on the SUVs, they might just sell more Malibu’s? Makes sense to me!

Can’t do the same dollar amounts for incentives on a Malibu as they do on trucks as they don’t have same amount of markup. Where GM can do a $6000 dollar rebate on a truck they can probably only do $1750 on a Malibu before they start losing money.

Well, maybe they could lower the discounts they give on trucks and SUVs and apply some of those discounts to the Malibu? I’m sure there’s a way that they can finagle the figures around to make things work out!

Let’s think about this for a minute. You want a higher discount percentage on a vehicle that doesn’t have much profit in it to begin with. And take the extra money from a higher profit vehicle to cover the loss. With that kind of thinking you should be a politician as that makes absolutely no sense.

Well, they are offering these discounts now- http://gmauthority.com/blog/2019/09/chevrolet-discounts-malibu-by-4000-in-september-2019/ $4000 off is a pretty big chunk of money! Hopefully, my 2020 Malibu Premier will qualify because it is finally arriving any day now. I’ve only been waiting FOUR months for it! Don’t know where the screwup was but I don’t think it was at the dealer. I was able to get it built sooner because I did some research on the telephone number for the factory, explained my problem to the security guard who answered the phone and he put me in touch with a very nice person who helped me out tremendously and moved up my order date from September 30 to the beginning of this month .?????
