Since 2009 we have purchased 6 brand new Cadillacs. Two at MacMulkin and 4 at Holloway dealerships in NH.
We have not had any major problems with any of the others till we purchased this XT5 a few days ago.
While driving we encountered the check engine soon light on and then the notice appeared on the screen service transmission and then a note stating transmission will be unable to shift soon.
The dealer towed the car back to the dealership and reset the codes. They stated that the problem was caused by depressing the retangular Park button off center.
Now unfortunately to me that is rediculous . In searching other Cadillac forums I am not the only one who has encountered this problem.
The problem is not going to be corrected by depressing the Park position switch dead center.
I have affixed to the button, exactly dead center, an opaque adhesive piece of plastic approximately 1/16″ wide by 1/16″ high.
I can positively feel this raised portion when I press the park button with my thumb. So I will be sure it is being depressed on dead center.
However I am also sure that this is not the solution.
Advise me on what steps are being taken to remedy this situation.
Same 2 error codes just popped up on my XT5 2017. So I guess this is still an issue?
