I’m having trouble with my transmission, it seem to shift a lot up and down when I drive it slow between 0-40 mph. When I drive it faster it doesn’t seem to have the problem as much. I come up to a red light and the light turns green and I take off, the car slams into gear and rocks us. I have read about transmission reprogramming from another forum. I took it to the dealer and they said it works fine after a 7 mile run. They couldn’t reprogram it because they didn’t have a recall or technical bulletin for it. I only have 4300 miles on it and it’s not fun to drive as it was when I bought it. Is anybody else having trouble with the transmission shifting?
      Thanks

“I come up to a red light and the light turns green and I take off, the car slams into gear and rocks us.”

Not sure if the dealer mentioned this, but could the Auto-Stop be a factor in the above symptom? I too have a 2017 LaCrosse and noticed similar but figured a way around it.

The auto-stop cannot be disabled, as far as I know. It will cause a bit of a ‘jerk’ when you try to quickly accelerate from a full stop with the engine off. To minimize it, or to negate the auto-stop all together, I will slightly lift pressure on the break pedal and the engine will start back up prior to when I am ready to actually start moving. Then, when I am ready to go, it is already running and it moves like a regular, non Auto-Stop equipped car would. No ‘jolt/jerk’ into motion.

“… it seem to shift a lot up and down when I drive it slow between 0-40 mph.”

I have noticed this as well, but I don’t have as much time in mine yet to determine what could be causing the feeling of a lot of shifting. The transmission is supposed to be an 8-speed and I have no idea when the transmission is set to shift at what intervals. Off the top, an option may be to switch to M1 and try using the steering wheel paddle shifters. I have not tried this, though. The feeling of the occasional shifting isn’t enough to persuade me, yet.

I have a 2017 Buick Envsion and am experiencing the same issue you describe- slowing for a light, then accelerating causes shuddering, Low speed hard shifting, lurching, grinding through shifts. Occurs each and every time I drive. I am at 8 months, 7000m and 4 service visits in which the service manager rode with me and said, “Yep, I am afraid that is just normal with these cars. There is no fix available from Buick for that”. A retired GMC engineer rode with me and describes the car will use “adaptive learning” to the way I drive. Said I might try driving it “harder”, but has been a known problem with many GM cars in recent models. However, this is a low speed issue and happens at speeds of 18, 24, 32, 44 mph and as such I cannot drive harder in city traffic! I do not find anything “normal” about this shuddering and lurching through gears and am insulted to suggest it is caused by the way I drive. I have driven for 42 years and had MANY cars and never felt something like this. I am angry and heartsick every time I experience this and just want to be rid of this car.

I started getting “Service Transmission” error messages in my 2017 Lacrosse at 26,000 miles. The dealer was unable to diagnose the problem, even with help from GM. Transmission problems continued to occur intermittently, including multiple error messages and rough shifting at low speeds. Finally, at over 68,000 miles, the transmission failed completely while the car was at the dealer. The solution was to replace the electronic transmission control module, an expensive repair. The car has since worked perfectly for the last 1200 miles.
Unfortunately, General Motors refused to honor the bumper to bumper warranty even though the problem first occurred below 30,000 miles and it took GM over 40,000 miles to solve the problem. They also claimed that this wasn’t a transmission repair, so they said it wasn’t covered in the powertrain warranty. They ended up covering 60% of the cost, which was better than nothing, but they did not do the honest thing and completely honor the warranty.
