I have a issue with the start stop feature if my Malibu.
Is it normal for the voltage reading be a6 12.5 to 12.7?
I have notice when it reads like that the start stop will not work.
When it is over 13v it will work.
Dealer says this is normal that the computer turns the alternator off and on.
My question is is it normal for the volt reading to be at 12.5 to 12.7.?
What has the voltage be for the start stop to work?
hello- the computer does control charging,it keeps the battery voltage topped off. When the battery voltage is high enough the computer actually reduces the charge rate to help save on gas wich can also hopefully extend alternator life. The normal charge rate is 13 to 15 volts. If the voltage is below 13 volts it puts too much of a strain on the battery for the stop start feature.–career mechanic
