Greetings all. Just purchased the truck described above back in July. I want to change a couple of things that were not available to me during the purchase process. The truck has the Onyx Black paint and I was not able to get the option to have black bumpers. There’s no damage yet to the bumpers so I might be able to recover some of my cost by selling them. They are equipped with the sensors and I want to replace them with similar configuration but in black. So, I’ve seen some after market solutions for the rear bumper that is essentially a cover that appears to be glued or taped to the OEM bumper.
That option is cheap but I’m concerned about how resilient it might be to minor (parking lot) damage. I’ve not been able to find an OEM bumper for this configuration that is either unpainted or black. Is this something I’m going to have to work out with the service center? Or better, is there an aftermarket way of finding this? Same situation applies to the front bumper and grill. They are chrome and I would like to replace them with black while retaining the embedded sensors.
I know about painting as an option. I’ve already used a product called Plastidip to blackout the badges and wheels. That turned out great. But for the bumpers and grill, I would rather go with something that looks OEM.
Finally, any experience with anyone here regarding replacing the in-dash “infotainment system”? Without going into a great deal of detail, I’m just curious about your experience. Did it go well? What are the pros/cons? Where did you start your research?
Thanks in advance.
Cheers, Ed
