I hope this is the right place to ask something like this. Anyway I have seen post about the code 130r, and the chevelle rumors. What I don’t understand is some chevelle post use pictures of the 130r concept, but some use a rendering of what looks somewhat similar to the camaro. Is the rumored “chevelle” just a re-branded code 130r? Also I have heard the 130r is due in june. Is this true? Thanks for any help clearing this up for me. (Sorry if this is a stupid post, i just joined, and just recently started gaining intrest in the automotive scene)
The renderings you’ve seen were likely GMI photoshops of a proposed Chevelle based on the 2012 Chevrolet Code 130R concept. They’ve been circulated and edited dozens of times by both known photoshop artists and (more often than not) unknown forum artists who whip up quick edits of proposed retro-revival cars to satisfy the forum users.
Just over 3 years have elapsed since the Code 130R concept was released, and lots and lots and lots of speculatory and unfounded “rumours” about a production 130R have come and gone. Same deal with a production Chevelle, no matter what it was based on. Pretty much every single rumour and half-heard tidbit of information thought up or posted on some dedicated Chevrolet forum about a production 130R or Chevelle has been complete bull.
As for a production 130R by June, it’s not ever going to happen. Part of me wouldn’t mind it happening. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not trying to pour cold water on everything. It’s just that apart from a few photoshops of the 130R and GM’s near-term production schedule, there is nothing I see coming down the pipes that says a production Code 130R is coming this year, or even the next year.
Sad, really, considering how much good press the Code 130R concept got when it was unveiled.
