I want to add a grille guard but virtually all nice ones say they are not compatible with the Adaptive Cruise Control / front sensors. One company sells a sensor relocation kit, but installation on a Chevrolet (not GMC, for some reason) requires the removal of the bumper just to get started, and then it really gets involved. I would gladly give up the ACC and/or front park assist in order to protect the front end from deer, etc. Some grille guards only mask the inner sensors, and others only mask the outboard ones. Are all 4 used simultaneously, or are they specific to one of the two aforementioned features? Regarding putting a grille guard on anyway, I have been told everything from just to press the “Dismiss” button to cancel any alerts, to the vehicle possibly going into “Limp mode”. I hope I’m not the first to have encountered this situation. An OFF button for these features, even if it had to be initiated every ignition ON cycle, is clearly needed in this case.
Actually a grille guard company Luverne makes a front parking sensor relocation kit for Suburbans, It really requires some modifications that involve bumper removal, but it’s not a big deal for installer. Even if you install just a grille guard itself without the sensor relocation kit, it may also involve some cutting if your Suburban is not equipped with tow hooks, Check this grille guard installation instructions for example http://www.carid.com/images/luverne-truck-equipment/products/pdf/331519-installation-instructions.pdf
