ParticipantI am trying to figure out what to do with my truck that has a locked up motor, it’s a 2015 High Country 1500 6.2L and has about 150000 miles on it. Was coming home from work and the motor shut off on me, tried to jump it replaced the battery and it just has a single click, mechanics and dealer say the motor is locked up. Funny part it I had just taken it to the dealer for a transmission flush n fill and they offered me 4500 dollars worth of parts but nothing for the engine, knowing they have a issue with the AFB system, but nothing was mentioned to me about it. This truck was very important to me as it was passed down to me from my deceased father as we always worked on vehicles together. Trying to find the best option with losing money on this, I’d love to put a new or rebuilt motor in it but I don’t want to make this a money pit seeing as the 13 to 17 grand would be more beneficial going into a new truck, and I dont want to sit on this for long, any ideas out there chaps?

ParticipantSorry for the loss of your father. $4500 in parts for what? Man, thats a lot of service work. Your AFB system, there isnt any service work that can be done. THe system is either working or it isnt. I’m sure you know the big problem is the lifters which the new generation way better than the past. Any idea what cause the motor to lock up?

ParticipantChevrolet has new 6.2L engines going for 2600.00 now. That is down from 5200.00 Of course, install is separate. If you have a friend who is a mechanic, offer them a few hundred bucks and a case of beer to replace it. Have you tried to manually spin the engine by using a socket on the crankshaft pulley? Make sure that you try to spin the engine to the right (clockwise). I own a 2015 LTZ Z-71 with a 6.2 that has been rebuilt twice due to dropped lifters. Mine has 189,000 miles. I also own other 6.2L trucks that by the grace of God have been ok to this point with well over 100,000 miles on them. My newest edition to the fleet is a 2024 High Country Tahoe with a 6.2L. I would not get rid of the truck if I were you. Hope this diatribe helps a little.
