ParticipantI found my symptoms in a post in another forum so I will just paste it below.
Quoted from another forum “This is something I thought I picked up on earlier so I spent some time tonight driving around trying to replicate it. This is somewhat difficult to explain so I’ll do my best. First I will get up to about 40 MPH which is around 1200 RPM’s. The transmission is in the highest gear it would be for this speed. After maintaining this speed and throttle, I’ll apply a little more throttle (not enough to drop a gear) and the RPMs will come up but not smoothly. I can see the tach needle almost ‘bobble’ a little while under this light load. I would say it’s a fluctuation of about 50-100 RPMs. I did note that this was not during a V4 to V8 transition when accelerating (already in V8). Engine was already up to operating temp also.”
(Me talking now) With that being said I am having the same thing happen. The truck has less than 500 miles on it. If I keep my eye on the tach it fluctuates between 50-100 RPMs constantly when just cruising in a high gear. Same happens if I put it in the manual mode and shift through the gears.
My question is how normal is this? Can I expect this behavior for the life of the vehicle? I called the dealership and they didn’t have an explanation. I appreciate it in advance!

ModeratorThis is interesting, @fastball_sc. I’ve yet to experience this myself — will have to pay attention to it when I drive one of the new trucks next time.
I do wonder if the RPM fluctuations would continue when setting the truck to run on a flat expressway/highway at a constant speed using cruise control. Could you try this?

ParticipantWoah, crazy. I was actually looking for another issue I am having with my 2014 Sierra and I saw this. I have the same issue. It’s totally random though. It doesn’t seem to do it every time I drive. I have yet to try Cruise cntl. Although I should. I also took the truck out of “AUTO” 4wd which it came set to when I bought it and turned off Cruise control which was set to on when I bought it. Any news on this issue?
The real reason I am searching the forum, my 6th Gen Ipod will run 2-5 songs then restart. According to the manual, I need the proper firmware version in my iPod. It’s updated and still does it. Should I roll back? And if so I wonder how far?

Participant@fastball_sc did you ever get a resolution to this? I am having the same problem with a new 2014, I have about 500 miles on it and it just started.
