Hello,
Can anyone shed some light on this recall?
I was unable to drive my brand new Impala off the lot on 8/8/2014 because of this safety recall. It was announced on 8/8/2014 as we were at the dealer signing the paperwork and handing over a check.
It sounds like a console latch needs to be replaced. Just wondering why its taking over a week to get the fix info to the dealer?
Loyal GM family member,
Bruce

Safety Risk Description:
The storage compartment door may not remain closed in a rear crash, increasing the risk of occupant injury.
Repair Description:
Dealers are to replace of the console storage compartment door inertia latch free of charge.
Recall Status: INCOMPLETE. Remedy not yet available.
Update:
The service manager got the info from GM about the recall procedure. They inspected the latch and it was not involved in the recall.
Thanks for the update, @BruceWinters.
Would you know if the recall-triggering issue was specifically with the latch on the center console itself?
