I’m having trouble with the FM only radio reception, noise and static. So far the dealer has replaced the radio and antenna module but the trouble still remains. I’ve driven other vehicles at the same dealer with no problems so I’m ignoring the coments from the service manager that this is common and not a problem.
Any ideas to what is my problem?
I’ve no first-hand experience with something like this, but it’s definitely not “common”. A buddy of mine had something similar where his XM signal would be intermittent and it turned out that the software running the radio unit would not complete its boot cycle and would load some items (USB) before others (XM).
If it were me, I would insist that the dealer fix the issue thoroughly and give you a loaner while they’re working on it. They should check TSBs from GM and if they still can’t figure it out, they need to pick up the phone and call GM directly to take care of you. Bugs sometimes do happen on new cars, but there is no reason that they can’t be fixed.
Congrats on the ‘Nox, by the way, and keep us up to date if you can.
Alex, thanks for the answer. I am insisting that the dealer fix the problem. The loaner car that they provided did not have a problem so that aided my case with them. I have involved GM so that has helped somewhat but after almost a year I’m still fighting this issue.
A year’s worth? Holy moly!
How is GM involved? Via GM customer service, or otherwise?
GM customer service
We’ve had this problem with my mom’s back then car (2001 Montana) but then we didn’t bother to fix it and then after that it just went away…..
